In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Rachel Hogue. I am a Christian, wife, daughter, educator, seventh-generation Texan, and someone who has spent more than a decade inside our public schools fighting for the success of every child who walks through our doors. I'm not a career politician. I’m not a polished speaker. I’m an educator, a teacher, an instructional coach, and a certified principal who knows that real solutions don't come from talking points - they come from classrooms.
For the last 14 years, I've taught everything from Kindergarten to high school, served as a Reading Interventionist, worked with middle and high school students in SPED (Special Education) Resource Department, and led campus improvement as an Instructional Coach and MTSS Coordinator. My entire career has been spent teaching children to read, write and do math. I have also worked at closing learning gaps, identifying strengths, and making sure no child is left behind simply because the adults in charge didn't give them the tools they needed.
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Reading. I earned my Principal certification because I believe every campus deserves knowledgeable, accountable leadership. I've led professional development, analyzed data, built intervention systems, and spent half my days inside classrooms supporting teachers and students side-by-side.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Texas must invest in intervention programs that actually close learning gaps—not hide them.
We need Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 systems that ensure students achieve grade-level mastery before moving forward.
Teachers are not the problem—they are essential to the solution.
We must reduce burdensome mandates and give teachers time, training, and resources to succeed. Not every student needs or wants a four-year degree—and Texas thrives because of skilled workers.
We must expand:
Welding
Electrical
Plumbing
Mechanics
Agriculture programs
Healthcare pathways
And ensure every student who wants to join JROTC has access to a strong, well-funded program.I am running because I have lived this work.
I have sat in reading circles, supported struggling learners, and stood beside exhausted teachers who still show up with heart.
Education is not political.
It is the foundation of our families, communities, workforce, and future.
