In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Rachel Cuevas is a mom, Alburtis resident, and daughter of a military family. She has
spent her career helping veterans find good-paying jobs and employment. Now, Rachel’s family
is feeling the squeeze of high costs while Harrisburg politicians ignore local families,
so she’s stepping up to run for State Representative to do something about it.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Rachel believes that no one in Pennsylvania should go without healthcare—period. In a working district like ours, too many families are forced to choose between paying bills and getting treatment. That’s unacceptable. No one should be sick—or facing a life-threatening illness—without access to care simply because they don’t make enough money. Rachel will fight to protect and expand coverage, push back against cuts to the Affordable Care Act, and ensure every resident can get the treatment they need. She’s committed to lifting up real stories from our community—families who’ve struggled to afford care—and making sure their voices drive policy changeRachel is rooted in the reality of a working-class economy and has a proven understanding of what it takes to create jobs. With experience helping employ thousands of workers in the Lehigh Valley, she knows how to grow opportunity locally. She supports strong unions, trade careers, and workforce development, including introducing supply chain and career education in high school to prepare students for real jobs—not just degrees. Rachel will fight for a living wage, stand with union-backed Democrats, and focus on bringing good-paying jobs back to the district so families can build stable, long-term futures.Rachel understands that the cost of living is outpacing wages—and families are feeling it every day. Housing prices continue to rise while wages have stagnated, and both the federal and state minimum wage have failed to keep up. Meanwhile, leaders like Gary Day have voted against raising wages, leaving working families behind. The result? Parents are going broke trying to support their adult children, and everyday essentials—from education to groceries—are becoming harder to afford. Rachel will fight for policies that bring wages in line with costs, expand affordable housing, and ease the financial burden on working families.
