Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a longtime Rockford resident and community partner. I’m running to be a leader who represents everyone because every voice in this district matters. Rachel Crowther is a small business owner, community leader, and elected official with deep roots in the Rockford area and Courtland Township. As a current Courtland Township Trustee and longtime community volunteer, she has built a record of thoughtful leadership grounded in transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Her service with the Rockford Area Community Foundation, Rockford’s Got Talent fundraiser, the Courtland Township Parks Committee, Experience Grand Rapids, and the Kent County Lodging Association, along with being named the 2016 Joe Tomaselli Hotelier of the Year, reflects a lifelong commitment to strengthening local economies and building vibrant communities.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I strongly support women’s rights and the freedom to make personal decisions about one’s own body and future. Mental health is another key priority. We need to expand access to services and provide people with the tools and support they need to lift themselves up with dignity. I am especially passionate about supporting veterans and improving rural healthcare

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity, compassion, honesty and a proven community leader.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To work for the people who have elected them to office. Those are the members of the community that the representative should live and work in. Understanding the needs of the people you are elected to represent is essential to a State Representative.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was a bagger at Meijer in Port Huron. I proudly worked for Meijer for over 5 years.
