In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in Morgan County Tn. and returned to live there since 2010. Graduated from TTU with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. I am a licensed professional electrical engineer in the state of TN. Worked for TVA for 31 years as a field test engineer and manager of a Transmission Service Center. I oversaw operation, maintenance and capital improvement budgets of 4+ million. Supervised up to 38 employees maintaining the TVA Transmission System over a wide geographic area. Am presently employed as a contractor providing engineering services. I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking and gardening. I am 66 years old, married and I have 2 sons. I am running for state representative to give folks a choice to improve healthcare, education, economic development and infrastructure in TN. I would like to see Medicaid expanded in TN. Tax revenues for public schools only. More funding for transportation projects. I own guns and enjoy my second amendment freedoms. I believe women in TN should have their reproductive freedoms restored with reasonable restrictions and exemptions based on science and expert opinion. Would love to see the TN constitution changed to allow citizen led ballet initiatives. I don’t believe in handouts and believe folks should work and have skin in the game. I am opened minded, believe in bipartisanship and will make decisions based on logic, science and the best available data. Last but not least I detest culture wars.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Expand Healthcare Access. Expand Medicaid in TNEducation, properly fund public schools. No tax dollars for private schools. If vouchers can’t be repealed then they should at minimum have income limits.Affordability, childcare assistance and grocery tax relief.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Expanding healthcare Access. TN turns down federal funding each year that would allow Tennesseans making up to 138% of poverty level assistance in purchasing health insurance. TN needs to expand Medicaid. Highway 62 in District 41 needs to be addressed. It is traveled daily my many who work in the Oak Ridge area and is an extremely dangerous highway.
