Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am Priscilla A. Prado, a mother of four, small business owner, and passionate community advocate. With over 22 years of accounting experience, I run Midwest Bookkeeping, a successful tax and bookkeeping firm serving clients for seven years. As treasurer on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Latino Chamber of Commerce, I work to uplift and empower our community.

I’ve been honored with the Milwaukee Business Journal Diversity in Business: Micro Business Award in 2023, the 2024 Poderosa Award: Woman of Excellence, and was recognized as one of Wisconsin’s most influential Latino leaders in 2024. Additionally, I’m a two-time heart attack and triple bypass survivor, which fuels my dedication to health advocacy and community well-being.

My journey started at 15, working in a hamburger joint in Los Angeles, where I quickly realized I was meant for more. This drive led me to business success and now, my candidacy for the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 9 as a Democrat. I am committed to championing small businesses, advancing equitable access to healthcare and education, and fostering inclusive policies that uplift all communities. I bring compassion, integrity, and action to my service, aiming to be a voice for all Wisconsinites.

Community-Centered Policy & Representation: I am committed to being a voice for every member of our community, ensuring that our diverse needs are met with inclusive and thoughtful legislation. My focus is on bringing resources and support to families, small businesses, and individuals to foster a safe, vibrant, and thriving community.Economic Empowerment & Support for Small Businesses: With over 22 years of experience in accounting and as a successful small business owner, I understand the challenges that businesses face. My goal is to promote policies that support economic growth, job creation, and access to resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses, empowering our local economy to flourish.Equity, Safety & Access to Essential Services: I am committed to promoting equitable access to essential services, including healthcare, education, mental health support, and public safety. I aim to ensure that all residents have the necessary tools and opportunities to improve their quality of life, while fostering safety and trust within our communities through a balanced approach to public safety and resource allocation.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about policies that empower small businesses, ensure equitable access to quality education, and expand affordable healthcare and mental health services. Additionally, I advocate for a balanced approach to community safety that includes both public safety funding and investments in preventative programs to address root causes of crime and promote overall well-being. My goal is to support thriving communities through inclusive, equitable policies.
