In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am your average middle class dad wanting to make sure my children have the same opportunities that I enjoyed. I am a life long Utahn, born in Holladay, graduated from the University of Utah, and I have lived in Bountiful since 2010. I am proud father of a 17 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. I have worked for a financial services firm in downtown Salt Lake City for the past 19 years. My wife of 20 years is currently a public elementary school vice- principal.

I am running because I am afraid my children will not have the opportunities that I, and past generations, enjoyed. That those opportunities will only be available to the very rich. I am also concerned that the environment my children will inherit will more resemble a "Mad Max" movie than the idyllic Wasatch front of my youth. I am concerned the democracy my children will be riddled with state sponsored corruption, and gerrymandeed as to ensure those in power stay in power. I strongly believe that the Utah Republican Super Majority has failed Utah. It is time for Utahns to stand up and take their State back, and honor past generations achievements by saving the Great Salt Lake, saving public education from those who look to privatize it, saving our public lands from developers who look to strip mine them, ending tax breaks that benefit the mega rich, bring about real campaign finance laws that will end legal state sponsored corruption, and return every woman's right to healthcare.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

End the Republican Super Majority! The Republican super majority has failed Utah! The republican super majority has left Utahns with a drying Great Salt Lake, a Colorado River system on the verge of collapse, state sponsored corruption fueled by a lack of campaign finance laws, unaffordable housing, continued fossil fuel subsidies, a weakened public education system, and tax cuts for the mega rich! It is time for Utahns to stand up and fight back against this body controlled by compromised wealthy land developers. No progress can be made on these critical issues until the Republican supermajority is broken! The restoration of the Great Salt Lake (GSL) must be mission critical job number one! Not treating the current state of GSL as the existential crisis it is to our way of life as Utahns is willful negligence. Already today we can see the consequences of decades of failed Republican leadership on this issue as massive dust storms, laden with harmful chemicals, blowing off the GSL are becoming more regular. The GSL influences so many aspects of our ecosystem along Northern Utah from how much precipitation is received in the valley, overall air quality, and the durability of of winter snowpack. Allowing the Lake to dry up would mean resigning future generations to "Mad Max" like environment. We must stop new data center construction in Utah! Utah currently is on pace to have more Data Centers than hospitals, which really shows where the Republican Supermajority's priorities are! Until critical questions can be answered about water usage, noise, cooling, and pollution these projects should not be allowed to move forward. The unhinged pace that these massive data centers are being built makes the industry look like an unsustainable bubble, and when the bubble bursts it will be the residents of Northern Utah that will be left picking up the pieces on the taxpayers' dime.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

In addition to the subject already mentioned above; I will fight to protect public lands and our remaining wild places for future generations of Utahns from extractive resource industries. I will also focus on protecting Public Education from those who want to privatize it. I will fight to restore a woman’s right to reproductive healthcare, implementing real campaign finance laws, and saving democracy from the Republican Party.
