Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Peter Williams, candidate for U.S. Congress, Louisiana 6th District. I currently reside in Lettsworth, a rural community in Pointe Coupee Parish. I am a christian of the Apostolic faith by doctrine, and Pentecostal experience with holiness.
I'm married to my wife Alfreda Rodney Williams of (44)
years. Together we have four (4) grown children, and five (5) grandchildren.
I attended college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) now (ULL) and graduated in the class of 1980. Professionally, I've taught Physical Education in the public school system, before transferring to the Lafayette Parks and Recreation, and became the first Recreation Director at Martin Luther King center, Lafayette.
Upon marriage in (1981) and time in ministry we moved to Pointe Coupee Parish. In 1999 to the present, I became a tree farmer, and agribusiness conservation specialist. In this capacity my company grew Louisiana hardwood seedlings for reforestation, with NRCS, WRP, and Equip tree planting programs.
While raising four kids in our rural community of Lettsworth, I saw and encountered many social, and economic injustices, and took on the roll as community advocate for the farmers, small business, women and children, and veterans. I became a vocal leader with the zeal and commitment to push for change. This did not come easy, because of political and systematic powers in play. Now I'm running to be in position to finally make a difference in our state .
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I want the voters to know that I realize that I need to be a new voice for all the people of the 6th district. This means placing people over politics, with practical leadership and accountability. I am the most qualified candidate in this group vying for this seat. I am district 6th. I worship here, raised and educated my children here, have a business here and understand the different obstacles we face in a rural community. For the voters of cities like BatonRouge, Alexandria, Lafayette, and parts of shreveport, I'm confident I have the skills and understanding to represent you and your families with the issues facing your communities as well. Please vote Peter Williams # 41I am the oldest candidate in the group vying for this seat. This is an asset, because of my experience in all the areas focused within my platform. These areas are Agriculture, Health, Housing, Education, Transportation, Recreation, and Incarceration, with prevention vs. retention programs.
My spiritual background enables me to be rooted and grounded in my conservative values concerning, Pro-Life, marriage between one man & women.
My business background will allow me to preserve or introduce policies to protect the economic engines of our district, such as, Agriculture, Forestry, Seafood, and Hospitality, among others. I want the voters to recognize that the middle class working citizens are the backbone of district 6th. Vote # 41As the candidate that's been fighting for the families of district 6th for (30) plus years as just a citizen, and gotten results, just imagine what we can accomplish together if I am elected on May 16, 2026.
Please understand, this map was forced on us, and we must prepare to face (2) two or more years without fair and equitable representation, based on the records of the past. To all voters, Republicans, Democrats, or No Party,
let's not let the powers that be, put us in a position of powerless for another election cycle. The reality of this particular district 6th race, is that many of you will have to vote for a person of color. It is want it is. I am the best choice, and will always tell you truth about the issues. Vote # 41
