(Biography on web site)
The rapidly rising cost of living is crushing families and hits all sectors of our economy.
The economy didn’t break itself; the underlying cause for the cost spiral is years of failed policies that force austerity for everyone who is not wealthy and connected.
Yet the HOTTEST BUTTONS today that Alaskans are rightfully alarmed about are two sides of the same coin: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the data centers that drive it. Unknown deep pockets with unknown motives are attempting to strong-arm data centers into Alaskan communities with rushed, opaque land swaps, NDAs, vague promises, and minimum possible public notice. That is oligarchic behavior, not the way of representative democracy.
We regulated the horseless carriage, nuclear energy, and even handheld laser pointers. Regulation of AI and the scale of compute required to drive it is the OUR prerogative, not that of the duopoly of vast wealth and purchased political power hidden behind the data center curtains.
I support a minimum 18-month ban on new data centers in Alaska to buy us the time to fully understand what is coming at us and to legislate accordingly in the interest of us, the Alaskans whose government it is.
We deserve a more transparent and accountable government. That means lawmakers who listen to YOU and legislate for the benefit of you and your family. I am listening and learning what needs and solutions you have. And that won’t change when I’m your state Senator.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
We'll build a stronger Alaskan economy for the people of our state. Together we will keep our natural wealth and investment local, support small businesses, and respect the value of working Alaskans.
I support a forward-looking energy strategy alongside investments in housing, food production, and transportation that strengthen communities across the state.
The cost of energy is out of control and drives the cost of everything else up with it. We need more energy, cheaper energy, and reliable energy not only in 10 years, but now. Wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal are all rapidly reaching cost parity with fossil fuels, can be brought online much more quickly, and are under-represented in our state’s search for energy.I support universal access to quality health care. We need to expand rural and tribal health systems so preventive, mental health, and acute medical care services are available close to home for more Alaskans.
Yet, unwise federal legislation enacted in 2025 is driving nearly 40,000 Alaskans off their health care coverage and accelerating a contraction of medical services across the state. Until there is reform at the national level, it will be the difficult and costly task of the State of Alaska to counter these cruel cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
I will always support the privacy of the patient-provider relationship and the right to make one’s own health care decisions, including bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.Revitalization of Alaska’s public education system is foundational to a brighter future. A quality education costs money; not educating our kids will cost a lot more in the long run.
The Base Student Allocation has been short-changed for years, deferred maintenance continues to be deferred, and schools are being closed. It is past time to reverse course and catch up.
We need more teachers in remote areas who can provide the same opportunities that kids in urban areas receive, particularly specialty services to the disabled or disadvantaged.
To retain teachers who are otherwise avoiding or fleeing our state, it is imperative to not only improve pay and working conditions eg class size limits but finally restore a viable pension system.
