In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a wife of 30 years, mom of 7, grandma of 8. I worked in Benefit Recovery (SNAP/Medicaid/TANF fraud investigation) at FSSA for 13 years before resigning to take care of my grandchildren after my children were struggling to afford/find safe and reliable childcare.

I’m running because I’m incredibly frustrated with how unaffordable life has become for my children and I’m terrified of what life will look like when my grandchildren are grown.

Indiana has been under one-party control for over 20 years, and in that time HD-50 has seen its population decline, good-paying jobs disappear, and giant corporations use our legislature to write laws that shift their costs onto Hoosier taxpayers. The results are clear: electric bills climbing year after year, taxes going up while politicians claim to cut them, stagnant wages, maternity care deserts, the worst foreclosure rate in the nation, and some of the worst air and water quality in the country. Enough is enough. It’s time for change.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I’ve spent my career recovering and protecting taxpayer dollars — now I’ll do it in the Statehouse.I’ll put Hoosier families ahead of corporate special interests.Commonsense leadership, not partisan politics.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Affordability. Utility rates/energy policy because it’s where I see corporate power and political failure hitting Hoosiers the hardest on a bill they can’t avoid. Data centers are rolling in very quickly, at the expense of Hoosiers taxpayers.

More access to healthcare. No woman should have to drive 45 minutes to deliver a baby. Everyone should have access to healthcare, regardless of income.

Working families deserve a tax break. For 20 years, the legislature has shifted the tax burden onto working Hoosiers while handing breaks to data centers, big utilities, and out-of-state corporations. They claim to cut taxes, but your property taxes go up, your electric bill goes up, and your paycheck doesn’t stretch any further.
