Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
The current federal administration has been using the threat of withholding funds to force universities to discontinue DEI programs and policies. This is a terrible mistake, since diversity is vital to intellectual growth. I strongly support policies to make the faculty and student body of Wayne State reflect Michigan’s diversity, which has fueled incredible achievements in culture and industry. There have been similar threats to suppress the expression of the First Amendment right to free speech, particularly regarding US support to Isreal. Wayne State University should have an environment that supports free speech and protest by faculty and students.Public education, colleges and universities should be focused on producing citizens capable of critical thinking and motivated to be politically aware and involved. That is essential to the maintenance of our democratic republic.
