Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Student Centered - Nevada students and their families are the forgotten priority. I will make sure they are the center of all decisions.Effective Stewardship - There are times the Board meetings are inconsistent. It's not always clear what the voting topics are at each meeting. I hope to bring some order and clarity to the entire board, making all of our lives better and making everything more efficient. Each of Nevada's Institutions of Higher Education have their own unique missions. We need to make those clear and work to emphasize, clarify and support those missions. The state can be superior to most if the various institutions can work together and complement each other, instead of competing.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
There needs to be a better relationship with the Nevada State Legislature. There is a reason why NSHE has had their budget become less of a priority in the state. We need to connect with the legislators and improve their understanding of what we do. Make them see we are spending our money wisely and show them investing in Higher Education will be better for the state of Nevada in the long run.
