I will stand to protect our children and defend those who don’t have a voice. A strong community starts with how we care for our most vulnerable.I’ve already served my country. Now I’m ready to serve my community. Leadership is about responsibility, accountability, and putting people first—not politics.I’m pro human. I don’t believe in dividing people by race, background, or beliefs. I believe in bringing people together to find real solutions that work for everyone.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Consumer Protection, Child Welfare & Family Stability, Faith, Values, & Community Responsibility, Veteran Services, Supporting Law Enforcement, Government Accountability & Practical Leadership, Economic Opportunity & Workforce Development

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Jesus Christ. In Luke 22:49-51, Jesus was being arrested, and Simon, in an attempt to defend Jesus, cut off the ear of one of the servants of the high priest. Jesus did not agree with this action and touched the servant and healed his ear.

This deed of Jesus shows me that even when a situation seems to warrant a rash and hasty reaction, we should choose to be gracious and show mercy.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

A legacy of of overcoming differences amongst people from different walks of life.

My first job was mowing lawns with my Dad. This lasted from the ages of about 9 until I graduated high school.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Learning to forgive and accept responsibility for all the events of my adult life.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature is one where the governor is objective and serves with wisdom and foresight, not favoring one party over the other. The governor should listen to all sides and be able to appease all parties through compromise and diplomacy.

The state legislators should be the voice of their constituents and write bills that reflect their interests and concerns. The governor in turn should be able to make an educated and well informed decision about the legislation that reaches his desk with the intent to provide the best possible scenario for their constituents.

It may not always be a smooth relationship between the governor and the legislature, but it should always be a relationship that strives to do what is best for the benefit of the greater good.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Poverty and Economic Development

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

I believe compromise is necessary, but may not be desirable. I feel that currently one party may want to over power the other and only have their voices heard.

What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?

The Fall of the Berlin Wall
