Nyamal Dei earned a high school diploma from Druil High School, a bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University in 2013, and a graduate degree from Benedictine University in 2022. Her career experience includes founding a nonprofit.[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a former refugee, a mother, and a public health professional who turned my journey of starting over in Fargo into a commitment to serve others. I work with everyone in my community – from longtime residents to newly arrived families – to make sure our schools and neighborhoods are welcoming, safe, and full of opportunity for every child. As a nonprofit executive director and elected member of the Fargo Board of Education, I listen to diverse voices, bring people together, and focus on real solutions that help students, families, and educators thrive. Now I am running for the North Dakota State Senate in District 41 to take that same community‑driven leadership to Bismarck, so that state policy reflects the real lives of the people it affects. When you vote for me, you are choosing a former refugee who understands struggle, a proven problem‑solver, and a champion who will fight every day for a stronger, more inclusive future for all of us.

I believe every child deserves a strong education, every family deserves access to health and mental health care, and every worker deserves the chance to build a stable life with dignity and opportunity.
