In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m Noah Smith, a proud lifelong East Tennessee Republican born and raised right here in Campbell County. I’m running for State Representative in District 36, covering all of Campbell and Union Counties and part of Claiborne County.

I come from strong local roots as a descendant of the Ayers and Smith families. My parents, Michael and Joye Smith, raised me to be a God-fearing, hardworking, patriotic American. I grew up in the Campbell County Public School System, attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church, graduated from Campbell County Comprehensive High School, and earned my degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville—where I’m a proud Tennessee Volunteer.

I’m a Christian, an Eagle Scout, a gun owner, and a commercial airline pilot flying CRJ900 regional jets and safely transporting passengers every day.

I’m running because District 36 deserves new, accountable representation in Nashville. As an America First conservative and young Republican fighter, I’m committed to bringing good-paying jobs to our communities, strengthening our local economy and infrastructure (including better roads, bridges, water, and high-speed internet), supporting our rural schools and teachers, protecting our conservative values, and passing term limits to end career politician culture. Elected officials must work for the taxpayers.

At heart, I’m just a regular East Tennessean who loves my faith, family, country, and the Volunteer spirit.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Term Limits & Firing Career Politicians

• Pass term limits at all levels of government to end the career politician culture.

• Bring fresh ideas and accountability to Nashville so elected officials work for taxpayers, not special interests.

• Stop politicians from getting rich off public service while our communities are left behind.Supporting Local Education & Building Our Local Economy

• Attract high-quality, high-paying jobs so families can work closer to home.

• Strengthen rural schools, support teachers, and empower students with strong academics and trade/technical education.

• Keep government from indoctrinating kids and let teachers focus on real education that prepares our youth for success.Robust Infrastructure & Roads

• Fix our crumbling roads, bridges, and highways (like 63 and 33) with real results from gas tax dollars.

• Expand access to reliable running water and high-speed internet across District 36.

• Hold state agencies accountable for faster, more efficient infrastructure projects that serve rural East Tennessee.
