In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a retired wheat, milo, and melon farmer and rural mail carrier after 26 and 15 years respectively.

I have experienced 77 years and am in reasonably good health. I carry an obvious term limitation for the office. I am standing for this office because I can stand steadfastly better than I can run. I believe that life is a learning experience and as the philosopher said, knowledge is sweet but learning involves pain. So I continue to learn.

I am a Lutheran Christian. I was brought up in the Methodist Episcopal Church as a baptist, had an experience of conversion at age 17, studied religious and philosophical thought and served as a campus minister with the AG, so I have a diverse religious background.

I graduated from Wauneta High School in Wauneta, Nebraska in 1967. I hold a BA in Philosophy from the University of Nebraska.

I am married to Colleen for 45 years and we have 3 children, Amy, Ben, and David, all of whom are gainfully employed.

I am standing as a Libertarian in this election although I was a life long Democrat until two years ago. The last Democrat I voted for was Jimmy Carter.

I have always been willing to stand apart from the herd if it is for a good reason. Our country is in need of a redirection. I propose to offer an alternative who is viable, credible, and competent. You will decide as this campaign plays out whether I can deliver.

Thank you for your consideration of support for my candidacy.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

The Farm Program needs a complete rethink. The current program of subsidies distributed here, there and everywhere is not sustainable. Farmers need to be paid a fair price in the market for their products.Everyone needs health care from time to time. The current set up is not delivering health care to us equitably and affordably. I favor extending medicare to all Americans in a way that preserves our freedom. That is, equally to all.First amendment rights are essential for us all as Americans.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Life...if we don't have it, we can't have any other human right or good.
