In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Hello! I’m Nicole. I grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland and currently live in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. Here in Ohio, we look out for each other. We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, send their kids to great schools, build a secure career, and enjoy daily life in their community.
For the last five years, I’ve worked as an organizer with SEIU 1199, representing healthcare and social service workers across northern Ohio. Every day I see how hard people work—and how hard it is to get by. Nurses, educators, and mental health providers are living paycheck to paycheck while holding up the very foundation of our communities. I’ve fought alongside them for better wages, benefits, and working conditions so they can focus on what truly matters.
I will bring those same values and that same fight to Columbus. Together, we can build an Ohio where every family has the opportunities, support, and security to thrive—and where the next generation sees Northeast Ohio not as a place to leave, but as a place to build their future. I’m running to be your State Rep because I believe our district deserves a strong, unwavering voice at the Statehouse—someone who will fight to support families and strengthen our communities.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I believe in an economy that actually works for working people—not just the wealthy few. Every person in our state deserves the opportunity to build a stable, dignified life through meaningful work. That starts with ensuring that one good-paying job is enough to support a family. I will always stand with unions, fight to protect collective bargaining rights, and oppose efforts that weaken worker protections.
My priorities include raising wages, defending workplace safety standards, and addressing the gender and racial pay gaps that continue to hold back far too many families. I’ll also support policies that encourage small business growth and strengthen local economies, because when working people succeed, Ohio succeeds.Every child in Ohio deserves access to a high-quality public education, regardless of their zip code. Strong schools are the foundation of strong communities, and investing in public education means investing in our future. I will work to fairly fund our schools through initiatives like the Fair School Funding Plan, which distributes resources more equitably, and to take the burden off of local homeowners. Our students deserve safe classrooms, and educators who are supported.
At the same time, I will advocate for policies that recognize and preserve the unique strengths of our many excellent districts here in House District 19. Public education is not just a line in the budget—it’s a commitment to the next generation and to Ohio’s future.A healthy community begins with a healthy environment. I will fight to safeguard Lake Erie from algal blooms and ensure clean drinking water and thriving ecosystems for generations to come.
We must also invest in renewable energy sources like solar and wind, which create good-paying jobs while reducing carbon emissions. Clean energy can power Ohio’s future and strengthen our economy while protecting our planet.
Another priority is removing toxic lead from older homes, schools, and buildings—because no child should suffer the lifelong consequences of preventable environmental hazards. By taking bold action today, we can leave a safer, healthier, and more resilient Ohio for the generations to come.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Building a better Ohio means making sure that every resident has the opportunity to live with dignity and equality.
As a union representative with SEIU, I’ve personally seen the power that collective bargaining has done to materially improve the lives of working class people. This right, in recent years, has been continuously degraded by our state legislature through Right to Work efforts and making the process of unionization increasingly difficult. I will work hard to fight against this wave of anti-union attacks.
Additionally, I am committed to protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ Ohioans, advocating for sensible gun safety reforms, and increasing opportunities for homeownership. These are all areas I’m deeply passionate about.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
Our campaign has been endorsed by the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, SEIU District 1199, the Ohio AFL-CIO, and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen. The Ohio Senate Minority Leader Nickie J. Antonio and several elected officials throughout the district have also endorsed our campaign due to our unequivocal dedication to the working people of this state.
