In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a former Republican Precinct Committeeman and a retired financial professional.

I have lived in what is now Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District for over 25 years and grew up just over the fence in Chester County.

After moving away for college and graduate school, I worked in the finance industry.

I spent most of my finance career in research, product development, and risk management. I consulted with multi-national financial industries on the quantification and management of risk.

In short, I developed actionable plans to deal with complex issues.

I can see the big picture while working on the details to get things done.

I am logical, methodical, data-driven and fair-minded which is what Congress needs.

I care deeply about this part of the country.

I am running for Congress because I am concerned that the policies supported by Mary Gay Scanlon and other Democrats in power actually harm the interests of most of the citizens they are supposed to represent.

Vote for me and I will work for all of the citizens of Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Too much government spending is a major factor driving inflation. The Federal debt is too darn high because members of Congress have a hard time making decisions and just saying no sometimes. Federal debt is growing faster than the economy as a whole, which is unsustainable.Increasing the social safety net to include both more beneficiaries and higher payouts will deepen these problems, not resolve them.We need fiscal discipline. As a proponent of limited government, I will hold the line on government spending. After a period of inflation, prices usually do not go back down on their own.

Higher wages make life more affordable. Companies can increase wages when their productivity and profits increase.

I will work with others in Congress to streamline regulation and to encourage the private capital investments necessary for companies to improve productivity and generate profits adequate to raise wages.

I will also work to attract more manufacturing and technology companies, and their well-paying jobs, into Pennsylvania's 5th House District. We have the universities, colleges, and technical educational resources to provide the skilled employees for cutting-edge companies.Government exists to serve all the people, so I oppose the politics of envy that are used to divide people and are the basis for treating different groups of citizens disparately.

Americans should be working together for a better future, not eyeing each other as sources of potential payouts from governmental tax revenues.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I passionately believe America can continue to be a light of freedom in an increasingly constrained world. Freedom is the superpower that allows any capable individual here to create their own life, perhaps including a new business, a new industry, or a new medium of expression.

We must create an environment of opportunity for all citizens by providing education or training, a stable and just legal system, and a social safety net for only the few who cannot otherwise find a way in the world.

To protect this environment, we cannot afford to take down the existing legal barriers to entry into our nation and give undocumented arrivals generous benefits just for being here.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

1) Honesty

2) Transparency

3) Accountability

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Given that the US House is where the budget for the government originates, the core responsibilities of a Congressman are to evaluate the stated needs of the citizens within his district and to set priorities for those stated needs given the limited resources of the US government to pay for them while taking care of national responsibilities, such as defense and budgeted social services.

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

The U.S. House of Representatives is unique because it is the voice of the people that gets to shape law and policy.

The reason the House of Representatives is listed under Article 1 of the Constitution is that the founders believed that people's voice should come first, and that the people should select their representatives, rather than have their "betters" make decisions without the voice of the normal citizens, as had been the usual practice before.
