Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am Nathan Nelson. I was born and raised in this district and I am proud to call it home. I am the third generation to farm our family farm. I have been involved in several organizations in the community, 4-H, University of Minnesota Extension and Farm Bureau to name a few. I think it's important to be involved and active in our community to ensure that is continues to be a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I believe everyone deserves to to heard. My door is open, let's sit down and talk and make a better future.To know where we are going, we need to know where we have been. The strength of our country is in the rights of the individual. We must protect and respect the individual.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about agriculture and small business. I believe they are the backbone of rural Minnesota. We need to work towards improving our roads, broadband band and providing a quality education.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
I do believe that having experience in serving the community is important. It shows that you can work with other individuals and groups to promote what is best for a community or organization.
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
Our biggest challenge over the next decade will be the budget deficit we are currently facing. We are going to need to prioritize our spending on where it will have the greatest impact.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
Yes, it is beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. We need to have a good understanding on how policy affects each area of the state differently, this is often done through understanding each other and the districts they represent.
