In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm a mother, grandmother and community leader with more than 20 years of experience helping businesses grow, modernize, and compete. I built my career solving real problems for real organizations, streamlining operations, expanding capacity, and putting people to work in a stronger economic position. That same practical, results-driven approach is what I will brings to my service in Assembly District 12: a commitment to making life more affordable for every family in my community, establishing new ways to manage water and energy resources, and expanding the availability of quality healthcare.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Cost of living - I'll apply my business experience and financial acumen to strengthen the economy, working to attract diversified manufacturing companies, which will create more durable middle-class jobs and sources of supply to Nevada. I'll also focus on eliminating red tape and will oppose new taxes, including attempts to impose a state income tax.Smart growth - I'll protect our water rights, ensure new developments secure the water and energy they need without impacting everyday Nevadans and will support an all-of-the-above energy approach.Quality healthcare - I'll work to increase the supply of healthcare professionals and modern medical facilities that deliver state-of-the-art treatments, as well as fight to bring down healthcare premiums and prescription costs.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
All of the above plus public safety, education and veterans
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm the mother of three daughters and one son and have four amazing grandchildren. I have two fur babies - a tabby cat and the love of my life, a Cockapoo rescue. I'm an earthy person who enjoys the outdoors, with gardening and cycling being my favorite things to do. I have been employed by technology companies throughout my career, entering the defense industry after graduating with a business degree at a time when women professionals were rare. Today I work in the software industry assisting business leaders in operationalizing and growing their businesses.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
We owe it to our families and friends to make our country a safer place to live.Economic prosperity is the American dream and is worth fighting for.We have some work to do when it comes to education in Nevada.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Fiscal responsibility and transparency, educational opportunities to support children and adults, school choice, securing our borders and our communities, constituent accountability
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
The passing of JFK. I was in kindergarten and had never experienced such an immense feeling of loss. It was a time when some people had to sit at the back of the bus and couldn't go places that I could or drin out of the same fountains. I wanted to be worldly like John and Jackie, thinking some day I could live in the White House. TVs were rare, so we listened to baseball on the radio. We drove to the family orchard which was 25 miles away - back then a long drive - where we ate too much fruit and ran until we passed out. Our friends raised cows and Clydesdales. We didn't lock our doors and our neighbors watched out for us. Things were much simpler, but clearly not perfect.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
Absolutely - my most memorable and fulfilling achievements are based on empathy, my ability to understand others positions and the importance of compromise. I learned those skills as a child, practiced them as a parent and professional, and continue to learn new ways to adapt to make things happen.
