Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I served our nation for 35 years in the Navy, a career that began as a helicopter pilot and culminated as a three star admiral and Chief of Navy Reserve, where I led nearly 60,000 sailors. My husband served for 29 years alongside me and together we raised six children. Eventually I transitioned from active duty to the Navy Reserve, where I was deployed twice; first to Afghanistan in 2011, and then to Djibouti in 2017. Pete Hegseth removed me from my three star position without explanation in 2025 so I decided to continue my service to our country in Congress.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
My top priority in Congress will be making life more affordable for Lowcountry families and small businesses. Everywhere I go in the district, I hear about the same pressures: the rising cost of housing, healthcare, prescription drugs, insurance, energy, childcare, and everyday necessities. I will work across the aisle to lower those costs by taking on pharmaceutical and insurance companies, expanding housing access and affordability, supporting small businesses, and making childcare more affordable. I also believe we need to protect Social Security and Medicare. Congress should be focused on bringing costs down and making it easier for families to get ahead.I will crack down on Washington’s corruption. I spent 35 years in the Navy, and the first oath I took at 18 was to the Constitution, not to a political party or president. I believe public service should be about serving people, and Washington has lost sight of that. Members of Congress should not use their positions to enrich themselves. I support banning members from trading individual stocks, getting dark money out of our elections, and strengthening accountability and transparency. I don’t own any stocks and have not taken corporate PAC money. I’m loyal to Lowcountry families, no one else. In Congress, I’ll work with anyone serious about solving problems, stand up to either party when necessary, and put the people I represent first.I will deliver for our veterans and military families in Congress. Service has shaped my entire life and my family. My husband and I both served as Navy helicopter pilots, we raised six children through deployments and military moves, and today one of our children is a Marine. I understand firsthand the sacrifices our servicemembers and military families make. In Congress, I will fight to ensure veterans receive the healthcare and benefits they earned, reduce VA wait times, expand access to mental healthcare, and give veterans more flexibility to use education benefits for career and workforce training. Those who serve our country should never have to fight their own government for the benefits and care they were promised.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and military families. I want to reduce VA wait times, expand access to mental healthcare, and make sure veterans can use the education benefits they earned for workforce and career training as well as traditional college.
I also care deeply about restoring accountability to government. Public service should be about serving people, and I support banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks and strengthening transparency in Washington.
And here in the Lowcountry, protecting our coastline and communities is personal. I support investing in flood resilience, protecting our waterways and marshes, and permanently banning offshore drilling off our coast.
