In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Mike Klein is a fifth-generation Floridian, combat veteran, chairman of Warrior Centric Health, and proud father of two Gators.

Raised in Gainesville in the 1970s, service runs deep in Mike’s family. At 17 years old, he swore an oath to the Constitution that still guides him today. He attended West Point and became a Ranger qualified Infantry officer in the 25th Infantry Division. As a young lieutenant in Operation Desert Storm, Mike led soldiers in combat. It was a defining experience, one that shaped his understanding of leadership and the true cost of war.

Mike’s brother, Eddie, followed him to West Point and into the Infantry—and became a triple amputee after stepping on an IED. Watching his brother’s recovery drove Mike to become the co-founder and chairman of Warrior Centric Health, leading the fight to improve the quality of care for the military and veteran community.

Beyond the military, Mike has worked and lived around the world, building expertise in international business, economic development, university innovation, and high-growth entrepreneurship. He has seen what works, what doesn’t, and how communities thrive when given the right tools and leadership.

Now, Mike is running as an independent for Florida’s 3rd Congressional District, a candidate unbeholden to party machines, corporate PACs, or special interests. His campaign is built on a single foundational conviction: get money out of our politics so the voices of the many outweigh the greed of the few.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

My campaign is built on a single foundational conviction: end corruption and get money out of our politics so the voices of the many outweigh the greed of the few. The Democratic and Republican parties are equally corrupt; both are in the pocket of corporations and special interest groups. The result? Dysfunctional government and laws written by the highest bidders. This must change. To ensure our government serves the American people, we must ban insider stock trading, end gerrymandering, enforce anti-trust legislation, and ban all corporate PACs and dark money that distort elections and undermine the public’s trust in our elected officials. I am committed to not taking any corporate PAC or special interest money.A record 45% of Americans identify as independent—not Democrat or Republican. Across the country, people are sick of a two-party system driven by the donor class, not voters. We must return common sense to Washington. In the House of Representatives, it would take just five independents to prevent either party from having a majority. Those five independents could be the ‘coalition of common sense,’ forcing both parties to work together and pass laws that serve Americans, not party bosses, super PACs, or special interests. Florida’s 3rd Congressional District has the chance to build that independent bloc and send a voice to Washington who is only beholden to the people of the District. Elect an independent. Restore trust in Congress.Localization is key to economic resilience. From farm to factory floor, we must build resilient local supply chains that keep production, jobs, and dollars circulating within communities. Anti-trust legislation, technical assistance, and youth apprenticeship programs are essential to ensure small businesses and entrepreneurs can compete. We must also raise the cap on Social Security contributions so the wealthy pay their fair share. As someone who has built expertise in international businesses and economic development, I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and how communities thrive when given the right tools and leadership. My vision for economic resilience is built from the ground up to provide a secure, vibrant future for all Americans.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about policies that strengthen all families across Florida's 3rd District. A key priority for me is keeping our promise to those who served. Military and veteran families make up nearly one-third of our District and are the backbone of our economy and communities. They are too often used as political props. As co-founder and chairman of Warrior Centric Health, I have spent more than 12 years developing policies that improve veteran healthcare. Congress must stop using veterans' legislation to advance unrelated agendas. Cutting earned benefits is immoral and does not provide a genuine long-term economic solution. I will ensure every veteran has the opportunity to continue serving with purpose, dignity, and opportunity.
