In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a professional city planner with over a decade of experience in all levels of Nevada government (federal, state, and local). My work has sought to translate Community priorities into actionable strategies. Wins include mortgage assistance to 3,000 Nevadans (including within Assembly District 15), a $1 million program to help small business owners pay their rent, a government program to cap rents in specific properties, and dozens of produce markets to provide thousands of pounds of healthy food in food deserts. But there's so much more that needs to be done. Our issues require systemic reforms, not band-aid approaches.

As a Venezuelan immigrant, I carry with me the trauma of losing the battle for democracy and want to ensure everyday people are heard and have a real seat at the table. We work hard to pay our taxes and our bills. The least we deserve is for our leaders to work just as hard to solve the challenges we face everyday.

This campaign is inspired by our neighbors who constantly show up for one another when times get tough. We raise our voices when we are unheard, and we don't wait around until the government fixes the problem. We are creators, artists, builders, immigrants, and workers. We are nimble when solving problems and we deserve to be in charge of our future.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

It's our turn. City planner miguel dávila is running For Nevada Assembly District 15 to put everyday Nevadans in charge of our future.

This phrase explains how we’re building our campaign. We started by asking neighbors what they want in a leader—they said someone who listens, is honest, and stands up to Trump.

I’ve taken that seriously by knocking on doors and asking people about their priorities instead of telling them. Then we bring neighbors together in Community forums to create policy ideas and build agreements for solutions that reflect what our Community wants.City planner miguel dávila is running for Nevada Assembly District 15 because working people deserve better neighborhoods.

We deserve communities free from ICE, with leaders who stand up to Trump and listen to residents. We also need for neighbor input and better coordination of construction projects.

Together, we can pass laws to create walkable, affordable neighborhoods with safer parks, address vacant lots and buildings, and bring mass transit to the airport.

Right now, there’s no urban planning experience in the Legislature. We can change that. A champion for smart policies to redevelop vacant spaces, lower rents, reduce homelessness, fight urban heat and drought, and bring better-paying jobs is working hard to earn your vote!Public investment is unevenly distributed across our cities and towns. Nevada leaders have spent too much money and time building new neighborhoods and have forgotten about us, the people who live in established and older neighborhoods.

It's not fair. We pay taxes just the same. I am running to ensure we are no longer on the hook for subsidizing the construction of luxury neighborhoods and low-wage job facilities.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about affordable housing, safe and reliable transportation options, food security and healthy food options, workforce development and training, worker protections and higher wages.

The median household income in Assembly District 15 is $40,000 per year. We need policies that intentionally seek to reduce and eliminate poverty.
