Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am Michelle Tweed, a U.S. Navy veteran and proud Colorado native, and I care deeply about the future of our communities. I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, in the Security-Widefield and Fountain areas, and I understand firsthand the values, challenges, and responsibilities that shape this region. I believe leadership must be grounded in faith, integrity, and accountability. Public service is not about personal ambition—it is about serving others and protecting the future of the place we call home.
My background reflects a commitment to service and informed leadership. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Homeland Security, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Health Psychology. My work focuses on how stress, trauma, and access to resources impact individuals, families, and communities—insight that directly informs my approach to policy and decision-making.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Colorado is facing critical challenges that require thoughtful, balanced solutions. We must protect our natural resources, ensure responsible water stewardship, and support the farmers and ranchers who sustain our communities. At the same time, we must plan for smart, sustainable growth that preserves our open spaces and the character of our region.
Public safety remains a top priority. Families deserve safe communities, and our firefighters, law enforcement officers, and first responders deserve the training, equipment, and support necessary to do their jobs effectively. As wildfire risk continues to increase across Colorado, proactive prevention, responsible land management, and community preparedness must remain central to our approach. We must also stand firmly with the men and women who serve our country. Our region is home to a strong military presence, and we have a responsibility to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have access to quality healthcare, mental health support, stable employment, and the resources they have earned through their service.
Finally, strong communities are built on strong families and thriving small businesses. Supporting workforce development, maintaining responsible fiscal policy, and promoting reasonable, balanced regulation will help create economic stability while preserving the values that matter most to our community. My commitment is straightforward: I will listen to our communities, lead with integrity, and make decisions grounded in the realities people face every day. I am running to ensure that the voices of this community are represented with honesty and accountability—and that the decisions we make today protect the future of Colorado for generations to come.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I will also fight to protect Colorado agriculture, safeguard our water resources, and promote responsible land stewardship. Growth must be thoughtful and sustainable. We can expand opportunity without sacrificing our open spaces, farms, and the character that makes our community strong.
I believe in lawful immigration, strong public safety, and the defense the rule of law. Compassion and accountability are not opposites—they must work together to build safe and just communities. I believe in grassroots leadership—neighbors serving neighbors. I am not running to advance a political career. I am running to protect our families, support our service members, strengthen our communities, and uphold the values that hold House District 21 together.
