In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

“My mother, Myra, often said that her children were living proof that if you want an education in this country, you can get one,” French said. “The threats to public education and the astronomical costs of a university education are threatening the ability for Alabamians to get ahead.”

A Roanoke native, French is a partner in PolitiBox, based in Birmingham. She has been a small business owner and an active volunteer in diverse non-profit organizations where she shared her communication design skills.

“I have bragged to people around the world about Alabama’s community college and technical school system—which should always be a priority to protect, promote, and expand,” she continued. “To attract economic opportunity, we need to prioritize education and the health of our people.”

“I am dedicated to my constituents and want to combine the ‘red’ and ‘blue’ on the issues that affect everyone,” she said. “I hope to turn this district a strong and friendly purple.”

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

To attract economic opportunity, we need to prioritize education and the health of our people.

We live in a healthcare desert. The demise of rural hospitals and lack of doctors and medical practitioners is in turn stretching our neighboring hospitals in nearby cities.Education!

Alabama was lauded for its Head Start program. The CHOOSE Act is a threat to public schools as it will take resources away from the already needy education systems. We need more resources, not less. I am in favor of a Lottery to add funding to Public Education and offer Pre-K through public college to our citizens.

Our Community College and Tech school system offers the greatest step up for our citizens and need to be protected, cultivated and expanded. Our rural food producers need to be protected. They need clean air and water to produce meat, fruit and vegetables to our nation and they are under attack from BAD policies that help only the huge producers and hurt the family farms.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
