Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm Michaelangelo Collins Hamilton, a 24-year-old Gen Z entrepreneur and political activist from South Florida. My main professional business experience revolves around my work in csales assisting

Passionate about change, I'm running to represent our district, our state, and our nation. We are not just as the best choice for our party but also for our community. I value collaboration, listening, and creating legislation that benefit us all.

In 2018, I graduated with a High School Diploma with Honors Distinction from McArthur High School. This was then

followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University awarded in May 2022. In that same year, I made history by running for Congress, receiving 1064 votes and becoming the youngest person in modern American history to do so.

Unlike my opponent, I reject large corporate donations, aiming for a commitment to serve without obligations to big donors. I do not take any $20,000 checks. This Hamilton is rising up and is not throwing away his shot.

After my father died I was only three years old, I was raised by my mother who sacrificed so much for me and my sister to have a chance. To be raised properly and to ensure we take advantage of the freedom and endless opportunities this nation has to offer if you work hard and show up

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

New Generation, New Leadership. It is time to shake things up and allow for the future of America to serve. Generation Z is here to lead and make a positive impact.Protecting Our District’s Current High Quality of Life & Boosting Economic Development for All. We will work and do our best to make sure that no one gets left behind any more.Accountability & Addressing Inflation and Taxes. I will fight everyday to work with economists to help stop inflation from growing and I will not be afraid to hold those accountable whoever they may be. We also will work to hold accountable public servants who breach the trust and confidence of the people. We will also work to cut property taxes for those who are struggling.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I’m passionate about the following areas of public policy: financial regulation and insurance, education, healthcare, and economic development.

These sectors I am interested in focusing on and working across the isle to get results for our constituents. In 2025, when I am in Tallahassee, I will file at least two bills. One which would be to improve and facilitate a partnership program between successful businesses and entrepreneurs and our constituents.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am someone who gets along with almost everyone I interact with. I keep a positive mindset and I’m a natural problem solver. As an entrepreneur, we get compensated to solve people’s problems and that is exactly what I will do for the people of our district In Tallahassee.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To basic responsibilities would be to ensure that the will of the people and community are heard in our state capital and that we work to address every single issue or concern our fellow constituents needs assistance with. I will have a staff with a strong emphasis on completing casework for our residents.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to be part of changing the way we do politics in America. I believe we all are part of one big American family and one people. Politics should be operated this way.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The first historical event that happened in my life that I remembered was seeing Barack Obama sworn in as the President of the United States. I was about eight at the time watching the news as my teachers were showing us and explaining the historical importance. Most of my classmates were disengaged but I knew from that moment that America is really indeed the land of where all dreams are possible.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was a customer service position that I've had for a year or so. I've helped thousands of people in different industries during my professional career offering a unique experience in this campaign.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The 10X Rule is my favorite book because it teaches you to look at setting goals and dreams so big that it guarantees future success.

In 2019, I found the 10X movement during college and the support and mentorship I’ve received from Grant Cardone and his staff is priceless. I’m currently a business partner with Mr. Cardone as I am a Limited Partner invested into the 10X Las Olas Walk asset in Fort Lauderdale.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Everyday, Ariana Grande

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

I believe it is so important not only to build relationships but to treat this job like being added to one big family of people. Some people you might disagree with but you should be able at the end of the day to get along and converse freely with anyone no matter what party or not they affiliate with.

The more connections you make with your fellow colleagues equates to the more you can do for your community that you represent and serve.

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

Not in the near future. My sole focus to to win this primary election and serve the people of the State of Florida in Tallahassee until I’m term limited. I will come to a decision at a later time about the next steps in my career then.

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

I loved an hour conversation I had with a fellow constituent who was a Republican and we got along very well. She supports my campaign even though I’m running in my party’s primary election. We shared a strong common interest to protect our district and ensure that it thrives for decades to come.

She also loved my story and background as to how I never gave up on my childhood ambition to serve the people of the United States and the great State of Florida. It is interactions like these that I have everyday that proves the fact that I am the best choice for our party to flip this seat.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

This is such an excellent question. I believe that good governance is being a facilitator of dialogue and discussion and creating compromises both sides can live with. We need someone who will listen and work in the best interests of them.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Michaelangelo Collins Hamilton is a Gen Z Democrat on the mission to make America a better place hopefully your next Congressman. He has overcome many adversities in his life from losing multiple family members early in his life including his father at three years old. Michaelangelo was raised by a single mom who sacrificed and dedicated herself to ensuring her children took advantage of the full promise of America.

As a result, he was forced to grow up rather quickly. He has been working since he was sixteen years old and has experience helping thousands of people in a variety of different industries ranging from various political campaigns, telephone answering services, food delivery services, and Medicare Advantage sales.

One of his lifelong passions since he was sixteen years old was always to serve his country one day and make it a better place. He was the product of public schools and Florida Atlantic University, where he just recently graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science this May.

Just like his ancestors who fought to protect our nation like his grandfather did in the Korean War as a U.S. Marine, he will serve our nation well. He is a champion of progressive ideals like eliminating student debt, supporting the Green New Deal, and ending gun violence. All his experiences and formal education have prepared Michaelangelo for this moment. Voters can make history on August 23rd and send the next generation of America to Washington D.C.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Economy - While in Congress, I will work with the President and my colleagues to provide relief in the rising costs of gas and other products by working to stop price gouging and ensuring domestic production occurs. We will also work to increase the minimum wage and help Americans build wealth.Ending Gun Violence - As a member of Congress, I will work to expand upon the work already passed and signed in by the President. This means bringing back the Assualt Weapons Ban, mandating insurance on firearms, mandating gun safety storage, and other common sense solutions to gun violence. I will ensure that my colleagues know that my generation has had enough of these school shootings and mass violence.Investing in the Future of America - As hopefully the youngest member of Congress in American history, I understand the importance and the value of investing in our youth. We must ensure that all can access a quality education in America by eliminating student loan debt, making public colleges and universities tutition free, making child care and Pre-K free as well through a tax on the wealthy.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

The areas of public policy I am most passionate about is our economy, ending gun violence, and investing in the youth and our families. As your next member of Congress, my top priority is to ensure that all Americans have an increasing standard of living. We must reduce the massive inflation that is occurring and work to ensure our fellow Americans are well compensated and are receiving a livable wage. And lastly, I sincerely believe investing in the future of America. This means eliminating student loan debt, making public colleges and universities tuition free, and making child care and Pre-K free as well through a tax on the wealthy.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The first historical event that happened in my life that I remembered was seeing Barack Obama sworn in as the President of the United States. What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

Congress is the world's most renown deliberative body. It is an insitution that has been around for hundreds of years and has served as a world example of governance and leadership. The decorum, order, and process the House has is something that we must preserve and continue. However, in some cases, we must be willing to go beyond the norm like getting rid of the fliibuster. I will advocate for my collegues in the Senate to do what is right.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

I believe it is beneficial but not necessary. It is important that people without government experience become members of Congress. The more experiences we have, the better as a whole we are.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, U.S. House Committee on Small Business, and the U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

Campaign website

Hamilton's campaign website stated the following:

Ending Gun Violence.

Too many times in our nation we see these endless mass shootings in this country. As someone who is from Generation Z. I offer a unique perspective having to deal with these threats in our society. I have been fully supportive of the March for Our Lives movement.

I have been an advocate for stregthening our laws on guns and passing gun safety laws. We need to reinstate the 1994 Assualt Weapons Ban, ban high capacity magazines, removing gun manufacturers from legal liablity protection, mandate training and licensing for gun owners, and pass gun storage legislation.

These are a few policies I would champion and any legislation that would put a stop to these terrorists from harming innocent Americans and our childlren. I would work also on legislation to stregthen our federal government's ability to charge anyone who commits mass violence under federal law.

Lowering Inflation.

Another top priority for me when I am elected to Congress is working with my fellow colleugues to provide immediate relief to all Americans from these rising prices. We need to ensure that we end price gouging that is harming the American people. As a Congress, we would have the responsiblity to hold these big corporations accountable.

I will work with the President and Vice President on their plan to handle inflation which includes their calls for Congress to end price gouging as well. Also, I can see myself working with other legislators like Senator Sanders to pass the Ending Corporate Greed Act in the House.

Our generation and all Americans did not ask for these price hikes and I will be working every day to legislate and work with my colleagues on this issue.

Standing Up for All Americans and Progressive Policies.

When I am elected, I will be a Congressman for all Americans. I do not have a Super PAC or wealthy people donating endless amounts of money. This is a grassroots campaign all started with a young man with a vision to serve others since a young child. When I was eight, I saw the first African-American President of the United States get sworn in and that was the beginning of my journey. Since I was fourteen. I have volunteered in various campaigns from local to federal campaigns.

I always had a passion to serve others. We need a representative who has the courage to stand up to the lobbyists and big money interests. I will champion eliminating student debt, Medicare for All, Expanding Social Security, protect reproductive health rights, expanding public housing, and other progressive policies.

Even if you do not agree with my political viewpoints, I fundamentally believe that we are all Americans at the end of the day and need to unite as one people. I am committed to serving my country and the district and making history once again in this country.

I would be the youngest member of Congress in American history sworn in at 23-years-old unseen since 1797 and the first latino U.S. Representative in the district. This is a historical primary election that could send political shockwaves around the nation and be a new day in American politics. Generation Z has arrived and is ready to lead.[20]
