Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I had the profound pleasure to have served our great nation for over 30 years. Now I stand to serve the great state of Florida & the people of CD-7. I will use my professional experience and skillsets to fight fraud, wasteful spending, abuse by contractors & the federal government, and dangerous radical leftist agendas.
I first served our country in the US Army, then in the Reserves serving in a Military Intelligence Voice Intercept SCIF. I went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Business and his Master’s, graduating with honors from Webster University.
After working for two major international corporations, I was asked to work in the Defense Department. My career in the DoD spanned over 33 years.
As a Senior Defense Official, I led teams to cut billions in wasteful government spending and to reduce government bureaucracy. I earned meritorious achievement awards, agency employee of the year, and numerous other awards for service and performance before honorably retiring.
As a conservative political activist, I was a crucial part of the team that successfully lobbied the Florida legislature to pass bills guaranteeing election integrity. I have also fought in District 7 and Tallahassee for parental rights.
If elected, I will stand up to radical leftist policies and wasteful spending that are threatening the values and freedoms that our great nation was founded on.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
In my 33+ years in the DoD, I was instrumental in cutting wasteful spending in the federal government. Notably, I was drafted to work on Reagan’s efforts to cut government waste, saving taxpayers BILLIONS. If elected, I will use that same expertise to cut taxes, national debt, federal spending, and waste in the government, downsize out of control government, and return money to hard-working American taxpayers. As your next District 7 congressman, I will join the Ways and Means Committee, writing and supporting legislation to streamline Big Government and vote for bills that reduce our taxes and debt and cut funding that doesn't deliver anything back to us.I will protect America through strong security, America first Foreign Policy, and Government Accountability. I will strengthen domestic security by advancing legislation that helps authorities identify and track terrorists on our soil and by removing portrayals that glorify radical Islamist ideology. I will work to cut aid to countries that do not support U.S. interests and to relocate military bases to improve security while saving taxpayers billions. I will reduce federal bureaucracy and hold members of Congress and other federal officials accountable when they undermine American interests. I will also fight to require all Senators, members of Congress, and federal judges to be U.S.-born citizens.Florida is not for sale to Big Tech & Developers. I oppose hyperscale AI data centers in our state that threaten our water, strain our electric grid, industrialize our communities, and put corporate profits ahead of Florida families. If elected, I will fight every federal subsidy, tax break, permitting shortcut, and government incentive used to bring these facilities into Florida. I will support stronger federal environmental, water-use, energy-use, and public-disclosure requirements to make it more difficult for developers to force these facilities into unwilling communities. I will also work to strengthen our highways, enhance flood control and public safety, and limit over-construction to preserve our beautiful state.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am personally passionate about putting a stop to out of control government spending! Too much of our hard-earned money is being sent overseas to prop up rich politicians and to fund countries that hate us and our way of life. Too much is wasted on out of control government programs. It is time to cut wasteful funding, streamline big government and reduce bureaucracy, and put the American people first.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Ronald Reagan because he believed in America First, he believed in freedom, and that Americans should be independent and free. He also believed in limited government and fiscal responsibility.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Honesty, integrity, strong moral character, and a history of genuinely serving the public.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To bring actionable solutions to the floor and to the committees.
What legacy would you like to leave?
To preserve the constitution for future generations by utilizing all of the tools at our disposal as congressman and advocates.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job as a kid was working for the town butcher, I worked for him my freshman year of high school.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
That despite fighting for what's good and right, we don't always win.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
To preserve our heritage, the constitution, our freedom, and our way of life, all the things that made our country great. America has historically enjoyed freedom of speech, freedom to bear arms, freedom of press, limited government, a capitalist economy, and other constitutional freedoms, that’s all being threatened by the influx of illegal immigrants that came in under the previous administration. They are a drain on our tax dollars, a threat to democracy, and a danger to our republic.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
We can compromise on the wording and give clarification, but the foundation and basic intent of the policy should be not be compromised on. For example, they want to make all vehicles electric. I would not compromise on that, that’s supply and demand. I would not compromise on our freedom to choose for ourselves.
What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
The Kennedy Assassination, I was in 4th grade at the time.

In his 33 years in the DoD, Mike Johnson was instrumental in cutting wasteful spending in the federal government. Notably, Mike was drafted to work on President Reagan’s efforts to cut Government waste under David Stockman. Mike Johnson helped reduce a Federal Agency from 30,000 employees to just 15,000 in 4 years. He also lead teams to audit, analyze, reduce, cut, and reprogram or expand projects, saving BILLIONS and delivering the best products possible for our nation. If elected, he will use that same expertise to cut taxes, national debt, federal spending, and waste in the government, downsize out of control government, and return money to hard-working American taxpayers.Mike has been a conservative political activist for many years, supporting America First candidates and initiatives from the local level in Central Florida on up to the national level. He has been a fighter in Tallahassee and in District 7, standing up for parental rights in our schools as well as being an integral part of the team that successfully lobbied for election integrity in Florida. At the heart of Mike’s platform is his support for Reagan & Trump policies. He is a fiscal Conservative Reagan Republican. His top priorities include fighting for fiscal responsibility in our government, securing our border, supporting energy independence, reducing taxes and the national debt, cutting business fees and giving them fair tax breaks, and overall fighting radical democrat agendas that threaten our safety, our livelihood, our children, and our freedom and values.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
I am a Fiscal Conservative Reagan Republican.

Honesty, integrity, strong moral character, and a history of genuinely serving the public.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I have a strong work ethic, I don’t quit until the job is done. When there’s a job to be done, I arm myself with the necessary education and tools to see it through. I have been described by others as being honest and having unwavering integrity.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

The Kennedy Assassination, I was in 4th grade at the time.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job as a kid was working for the town butcher, I worked for him my freshman year of high school.
What is your favorite book? Why?
I always loved the Hardy Boy Mysteries, that was my entertainment growing up.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Don't Be Fooled Again by The Who
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
That despite fighting for what's good and right, we don't always win.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
That at it’s core the purpose of the U.S. House of Representatives is to represent the will of the people while upholding the United States Constitution, and making no laws that infringe on that.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
Not necessarily politics but yes experience in the government as it is vitally important that representatives understand American history and how congress fits in, as well as understand the parliamentary processes, roles of the agencies, and how congress interacts with the agencies.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
To preserve our heritage, the constitution, our freedom, and our way of life, all the things that made our country great. The influx of illegal immigrants coming in that are used to censorship, not having arms, and not having other freedoms like we have are bringing those thought processes here. America has historically enjoyed freedom of speech, the freedom to bear arms, freedom of press, limited government, and other constitutional freedoms, that’s all being threatened now.
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Yes that us in the United States Constitution
What are your thoughts on term limits?
There are term limits on the presidency because bureaucracy should be limited. There should be term limits on the house and senate as well as other top levels of bureaucracy like Senior Executive Service.
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
There’s a statesman I want to model myself after: Thomas Jefferson.
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
In general a lot of people have shared with me that they vote and think that they have a representative, but once elected they never hear from their representative, after being elected they’re just not there for the regular citizen. This motivates me as it my mission is to be a representative that is truly for the people.
A more specific specific story that stands out to me is of a local veteran who was having trouble and needed help at the VA. They say let’s call your congressman. They put in a call to Cory Mills, but instead of helping work towards a solution Mills just ended up making a scene and interfering with her getting the help she needed with the case.
The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected?
If elected I plan to be on House Committee on Ways and Means. This is where wording for taxation bills originates; this is also where they develop the drafts and finalized bills that include appropriations (money). My goal as a congressman is to put my professional experience and skillsets to use serving on this committee, in particular scrutinizing budgets and reducing waste in the budget, as well as focusing on reducing taxes and making taxes fair.
How should the U.S. House use its investigative powers?
These investigative powers were designed to create legislation to solve issues once found. Instead what we’re seeing a lot these days are endless investigations with no solutions. There are all of these agencies conducting organizations, the GSA, the GAO, and others, they put together reports that ultimately go nowhere. It’s time to streamline the agencies, cut waste, and focus on implementing solutions.
What committees interest you?
The House Committee on Ways and Means and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?
There should be open transparency and full government accountability. This includes having published archives online where people can access information instead of having to do Freedom of Information Acts to request them.
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Michael Johnson, a decorated veteran and principled conservative, announced today his campaign for State Senate in District 22, representing Sarasota and Manatee County.
Johnson stands for limited government and supports Gov. Ron DeSantis in his work to halt reckless spending, cut red tape, and expand freedom for all Floridians. A supporter of the right to life and the Second Amendment, Johnson also plans to reform the state’s education system to focus on practical life skills, not political indoctrination. He will protect clean water resources and support open spaces for community enjoyment. He is running against entrenched political interests that make careers out of hoarding power, not helping people.
“Sarasota and Manatee County residents need a fighter in Tallahassee who will keep West Coast of Florida beautiful and free from political corruption,” said Johnson. “Florida can, and should, be number one in the nation in education, election security, and economic prosperity. With your vote, we can expand on the success of Gov. DeSantis and create a sunnier future for the Sunshine State!”
Johnson is a decorated U.S. Army veteran who has been honored with the Vietnam War Service Medal, Defense Department Cold War Service Medal, and Desert Storm Service Medal. He has been commended by the military for meritorious service during Operation Desert Storm. He served in defense agencies for over 30 years.
Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Southern Illinois Univer
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Stop Corruption in the Republican Party and Corruption in how money makes its way into political campaignsFight for the residents of Florida and residents of Sarasota County and Manetee county to preserve their way of life.Every one has the right to vote. Voters rolls need to be cleaned up, clear and transparent voting processes and oversight .
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Keeping the environment as mother earth wanted it. Stop urban sprawl. Stop waste water loaded with toxic chemicals, tire and road debris from oil based chemicals from running into our rivers, beaches and aquifer. Focus on funding infrastruture that allow our traffic patterns to flow more freely. Fighting the opiod problim with our young ones. Help abused children. Business: Florida should be the best place in the country to start and run a business. In the State Senate, I’ll cut red tape and streamline the process to build wealth and create jobs.
Taxation: People, not politicians, know best how to spend their money. And efficient state government saves all of us money and makes our lives easier.
Education: Political indoctrination has no place in schools. The rising generation should be taught the truth about this country, including American greatness. Parents should have the loudest voices in their children’s education, and I reject any attempt by school boards to silence them. Our kids should learn practical life skills beginning in Grade 6, so they are prepared to be productive and responsible members of society by the day they graduate high school.
Election Integrity: Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. Supervisors of Elections should be tasked with cleaning voter roles that contain names of people who no longer live at their stated addresses. This protects everyone’s right to vote while making it harder to cheat. I also support poll watchers
