In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Michael Walsh was born and raised in Lynnfield and has practiced law in Massachusetts for 15 years. The youngest graduate in Suffolk University history, he earned his bachelor's degree at 17 and his Juris Doctor at 21. A general-practice litigator, Walsh has appeared in nearly every forum in the Commonwealth, including Land Court, criminal courts, military courts-martial, the Civil Service Commission, the Labor Relations Commission, and numerous administrative agencies. His practice spans public employment and labor law, criminal defense, military law, administrative procedure, land use and zoning, commercial paper, and appellate work. He has represented workers, small businesses, homeowners, municipalities, and individuals facing government overreach, with a focus on defending service members, the disabled, and underrepresented parties. Walsh is currently litigating multiple active cases directly opposing the Massachusetts Attorney General, including constitutional and administrative challenges involving legislative audits, public records access, electronic signatures, and the state's implementation of the MBTA Communities Act (Chapter 3A). Several are pending before the Superior Court and Supreme Judicial Court. He is running to insist that constitutional disputes be decided in court, not by executive fiat. Walsh believes no constitutional officer should be silenced and no case should be "won" by keeping the other side off the field. That isn't leadership. It's cheating.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
ENFORCE THE AUDIT
The Attorney General must uphold and defend the laws already on the books including the legislative audit. No selective enforcement. No political shielding. If the law requires transparency and accountability, it will be enforced.PROTECT LOCAL CONTROL
Local zoning decisions belong to cities and towns not unelected state bureaucrats. Mike opposes state imposed zoning mandates that override Home Rule and coerce municipalities into compliance under threat of funding loss.LOWER UTILITY BILLS
Families shouldn't have to choose between heating their homes and paying the bills. As Attorney General, I'll fight rate hikes and hold utility companies accountable so working families keep more of what they earn.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about holding government accountable to the people it serves. That means enforcing the audit, rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse, and making sure public records and public dollars are open to scrutiny. I care deeply about protecting individuals from government overreach, whether they are workers, homeowners, small businesses, service members, or people with disabilities. I believe in local control, especially over zoning and land use, rather than one-size-fits-all state mandates. I want to defend families from unfair utility rate hikes, and I want every ballot question to be clear, lawful, and properly vetted before it reaches voters.
