In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

This district has been home my entire life. Our schools, fields, and small businesses made me who I am. I love this community and believe our state can do more, more urgently, to meet this moment.

We can hold the line against authoritarianism and lead the nation in creating the best public schools, driving down utility bills, and making government move faster to deliver. We can show the country a different way forward.

I’ve been fighting for this community my whole life:

On the Montgomery County school board, I championed career and technical education, expanded mental health resources, and secured hundreds of thousands in funding for immigrant students.

At March For Our Lives, I fought for common-sense gun violence prevention laws all the way up to the Supreme Court to keep our streets and schools safe.

Today, as Assistant Counsel for the Maryland State Education Association, I fight for teachers, bus drivers, secretaries and support professionals across Maryland, working to lift wages and ensure our schools have the support they need to uplift every student.

I’m proud to have the endorsement of our Congressman Jamie Raskin and Former County Executive Ike Leggett, and to run with the District 14 team: Senator Craig Zucker, Delegate Anne Kaiser, and Delegate Bernice Mireku-North.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

We must fight for a fairer economy in our state.

As Delegate, I’ll work to lower energy bills by taking on big tech and the utilities. Data centers account for 74% of the spike in regional electricity costs, which is passed to our utility bills. We should not be subsidizing the world’s wealthiest corporations. I’ll fight to require data centers to bring their own clean energy to cover their power needs and pay for grid improvements. I’ll push to ban forecast test years, which let utilities charge us for projects they haven’t started. And I will fight to ban utilities from donating to state politicians.

We also must cut red tape for our small businesses and expand home repair grants to enable seniors to age in place here.Maryland must use every ounce of power we have to fight back against the Trump administration and its campaign of terror in our neighborhoods.

As Delegate, I’ll fight to stop and penalize ICE agents who hide behind masks, empower prosecutors to criminally charge ICE agents who use excessive force, prevent ICE detention facility expansion by restricting utility hookups to such facilities, and strengthen state protections against book bans. Our schools need more support. We should set our sights no lower than again having the best public schools in the country.

As Delegate, I’ll fight to expand career and technical education, mandate financial literacy for high schoolers, and provide universal free meals to all children. I’ll work to lift educator pay so those who serve our community can afford to live here. I’ll push to better assist families navigating special education supports by delivering promised supports and reduce state-imposed paperwork requirements that take time away from educators’ teaching and planning.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am going to fight with everything I have to stand up to Trump, build a fairer economy, make our schools the best in the country, and keep our communities safe from gun violence.
