Campaign websiteLittle's campaign website stated the following:Key IssuesFighting for the FutureI’m fighting to restore freedom and opportunity for all Americans. I’ll stand against harmful policies that undermine our economy and cut essential services. With proven bipartisan experience, I’ll work across the aisle to break through hyperpartisanship and deliver results. I’m running for the underdogs, for families struggling to get ahead, and for my home district where I was raised and now raise my family. Why I’m Running For CongressI’m running to fight for my home. I’m fighting for every underdog who works hard but still can’t get ahead, and for families who can’t afford groceries, child care, health care, or assisted living. I grew up in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District (MN CD2) in my folks’ home in Lakeville, went to high school in Rosemount, and I now live in New Market Township. I understand what people in this area need. I’m running because the American Dream shouldn’t be out of reach for anyone. I’m fighting for a future where Americans are still free. Free to pursue the American dream; free to peacefully protest, and free from reckless, incompetent, and cruel federal policies. Policies that carelessly wreck the economy, stoke inflation, and slash vital public services that seniors, veterans, and children depend on. Sure, I’m in favor of cutting red tape and eliminating wasteful spending, but this administration has made incoherent, overnight cuts to life-saving programs either accidentally or deliberately, and then refused to fix their own mistakes. If you’re going to cut medical treatments and food supplies for kids who need them to live, at least have the guts to look those kids in the eyes. Cruelty isn’t kindness. It isn’t Christian. It isn’t policy. And it sure as hell isn’t American.I’m running for Democracy; standing up for all the rebels, mavericks, and misfits. People who believe that Democracy and the rule of law are what separates America from tin-pot dictatorships, and the worst devils of our natures. Lying to judges, arresting people without due process, and disregarding legitimate court orders are all examples of how democracies die, but now they are happening here, in America. I’m fighting for the healthcare my Mom needs, the retirement my Dad needs, and the future my daughter deserves. I’m running because if we don’t win back Congress, there will be nothing left of our country for her to inherit. People don’t expect much from Congress anymore. That’s about to change. I’m willing to fight. Are you willing to join me? Fighting to Get ICE OUT of Minnesota NowLet’s be clear about one thing: Renee Good should still be alive. Whether you embrace or reject protesting, she did not deserve to die. ICE agents in Minnesota have shown a callous indifference to the value of life- all lives- whether you’re a citizen, a documented immigrant, or an undocumented immigrant. Nothing has kept people safe from the strategic brutality of ICE in Minnesota. ICE agents in Minnesota are trying to scare and provoke us. They’re NOT actually here to investigate fraud, reduce crime, or even deport undocumented immigrants. If that were their real mission, they wouldn’t have sent the largest ICE force in history to a state with one of the lowest populations of undocumented immigrants, and they wouldn’t be roaming our neighborhoods like lawless street gangs. The one thing law enforcement must do is follow the law. Armed forces that don’t follow the law are nothing more than thugs. Never before has Minnesota been invaded by over 3,000 federal agents. Never before has Minnesota needed to defend its own citizens against the federal government. Never before have federal forces so recklessly endangered our communities, ignored our laws, damaged our economy, blatantly and repeatedly lied to courts and judges, and then tried to blame their own cruelty on us. But they have failed. We are not afraid. We will not give up. And if elected to Congress, I will not forget. If elected, I will fight for this Anti-ICE Bill of Rights: Cut ICE funding immediately to pre-Trump levels, then Replace ICE with a federal immigration agency that Americans can trust and that obeys the Law and Constitution.Launch full Congressional investigation into ICE’s illegal, unconstitutional, and abusive actions, including senior administration officials Ban federal agents from wearing masks in the course of their dutiesRequire federal agents to identify themselves, their agency, their mission, and charges when detaining or arresting someone.Ban federal agents from detaining or arresting people without probable cause or a judicial warrant Restrict qualified immunity for federal agents by amending section 1983 of the civil rights act to explicitly include all federal agents, and codify and extend the Supreme Court’s Biven standard to include law enforcement actions.Require federal agencies to notify families and attorneys of the locations where their relatives are being detained and what charges they faceProtect First Amendment rights by changing federal agent guidelines on the use of force guidelines to narrowly define what counts as impending or obstructing federal agents to Automatic budget cuts for Homeland Security agencies that fail to follow federal court orders as soon as practically possible.Revised the Posse Comitatus and Insurrection Acts to restrict the circumstances under which a President can send military forces or National Guard troops into statesFighting for Lower Prices & An Economy that Works for EveryoneInflation, tariffs, and economic inequality are eroding the American Dream. From housing and health care to child care and groceries, everyday prices are out of control, and government services are too slow to help when people need them most. More and more Americans feel like they don’t have a fair shot at success. Our tax code should promote fairness and opportunity for working people, small businesses, and family farms. That includes things like the permanent expansion of the Child Tax Credit and standing up to reckless tariff policy that hurts Minnesota farmers, construction workers, and tradespeople who make an honest living building houses and products we use every day. It means telling the richest Americans that they don’t get to live by a different set of rules than the rest of us.I’m a union guy to the bone. There’s no better way to raise pay and benefits for working people than organizing and bargaining together. It’s about power, community, and knowing that someone’s always got your back. It’s also the only realistic way to match the collective power of massive corporations. Most people don’t understand that unions raise everybody’s pay, whether you’re in a union or not. So the work that union members do, they are doing for every person earning a paycheck in America.Fighting for HealthcareWhen my Mom was seriously sick, she spent years battling the health care system, so trust me, this fight is personal. America has the best medical care in the world – if you can afford it. But too many families are just one illness or accident from bankruptcy. Outrageous out-of-pocket emergency or critical care costs make it nearly impossible to save enough to cover a serious medical condition. In the State Senate, I led the fight for affordable insulin and improved prescription drug coverage. The federal government has the power to fix this; it provides health services and has massive purchasing power. But big insurance and pharmaceutical companies are standing in the way, protecting their profits. Medicare only began negotiating drug prices in 2025, but the current list of drugs is too limited. We should expand Medicare and Medicaid’s ability to negotiate for lower prices on most prescription medicines. That would not only lower costs for patients, but it would save billions in taxpayer dollars. Medicare for All: We CAN guarantee affordable healthcare for everyone by simply making Medicare available for all Americans. Beware of people pushing for more incremental patchwork fixes- that has failed for over fifty years. Medicare for All will lower the cost of both Medicare and private insurance by lowering the average age and utilizing a cost-neutral system that already exists. Despite what so many people want you to think, this problem can be solved if we just have the will to fight for affordable health care for everyone.Fighting for a Just & Lasting Peace in Israel & PalestineThe Hamas terrorist attack of Oct. 7, 2023, was an act of wanton slaughter against innocent civilians. All people should condemn the deaths, taking of hostages, and the anti-Semitism that followed. However, Israel’s response has now crossed the line from justifiable self-defense to disproportionate, inhumane acts of genocide. Refusing to allow basic food, health, and shelter to millions of civilians is unacceptable even in wartime. As a nation, we must distinguish between people and their governments; between necessary and disproportionate force. The United States must end all military aid and weapons sales to Israel to send a clear signal to the Israeli government, and ensure Israel fulfills all its obligations in the recently negotiated peace agreement with Palestinians, permit all necessary humanitarian aid to Gaza, rebuild Gaza and the surrounding areas destroyed by Israel’s attacks, retract illegal settlements in Palestinian territories, and ultimately negotiate a two-state solution to create a just and lasting peace for both nations. Fighting for FreedomEvery freedom-loving American should be fighting mad right now. Whose freedom is safe now? I’m fighting for a future where Americans are still free. Free to pursue the American dream; free to peacefully protest, free to control their bodies, and free from reckless, incompetent, and cruel federal policies. Policies that carelessly wreck the economy, stoke inflation, and slash vital public services that seniors, veterans, and children depend on. By slashing funding that Congress appropriated to help fight disease, find cures for cancer, and bring food to disabled seniors and veterans, they are wrecking the checks and balances system vital to our democracy. America won independence from a King before; we can do it again. The President has ordered the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute citizens by name for treason just because they criticized the President or his policies. The Administration is trying to ban journalists and revoke licenses for news outlets that publish stories it doesn’t like. I can’t believe this is happening in America. Taking back Congress is the only way to check this abuse of power! Democracy and the rule of law are what separate America from tin-pot dictatorships, and the worst devils of our natures. Tyrants persecute, silence, and imprison their critics because they are too cowardly to confront their mistakes. Democracy can’t be brushed aside because it’s inconvenient or annoying to some. Lying to judges, arresting people without due process, and disregarding legitimate court orders are all examples of how democracies throughout history have died. Our democracy is what makes America great. I’m running to make sure we stay free, and I won’t back down.Fighting for Women’s Reproductive RightsPerhaps no issue of freedom is more intimate or important than controlling your own body. Women, like everyone, should have the right to control their bodies and make choices about their own health care, and reproductive rights. But that isn’t just about overturning Dobbs and restoring Roe as the law of the land. It’s about making those legal rights practical and possible for every woman. Freedom you cannot actually use is not freedom at all. Women must have real opportunities to receive the health care and reproductive freedoms that they choose. Too many small towns and many city neighborhoods alike exist within health care deserts – places where there are no nearby clinics, hospitals, OBGYNs, birthing clinics, mental health counselors or even a nurse. And, of course, even if health care services are available, if you can’t afford them, you still don’t have the freedom to choose. Without affordable, accessible health care services, no woman is truly free to control her destiny. I will fight to guarantee women’s reproductive rights, both in law and in life.Fighting for LGBTQIA2S+ RightsSince the start of Trump’s second term, Minnesota has become a safe haven for LGBTQIA2S+ community members. I’m committed to keeping it that way. Right now, the Trump administration is bent on cruelty, throwing social services, access to accurate identity documents, and basic human rights into a tailspin. For anyone to thrive in our country, we must right the ship, and with it respect the identities of our LGBTQIA2S+ community members.Below are my commitments to keeping Minnesota a place where LGBTQIA2S+ community members, young and old, can thrive. Matt Little’s LGBTQIA2S+ Bill of RightsPass the Equality Act (119th Congress: HR 15; S 1503) which amends the Civil Rights Act, among other laws, to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, medical care, criminal justice system, credit, and federal funding, federal employment, jury service, and social services.Protect Obergefell v Hodges and ensure everyone has the right to marry.Ban conversion therapy at the federal level.Overturn US vs. Shilling, the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the military to ban transgender people from serving.Restore LGBTQIA2S+ history to national monuments, military bases, government facilities, and federal websites.Protect legal recognition of parentage, expand access to IVF and fertility options, and protect LGBTQIA2S+ individuals’ rights to adoption and fostering children.Issue passports that have YOUR preferred gender marker, not the gender marker the federal government wants you to have.Reinstate funding for social service programs, nonprofits, and research that seek to uplift and support the LGBTQIA2S+ community.Protect and advocate for LGBTQIA2S+ youth. Including overturning Supreme Court decisions that allow for discrimination in schools, and reinstating critical federal protections for LGBTQIA2S+ youth in foster care.Expand nondiscriminatory access to medical care, visitation, and care homes for HIV/AIDS positive patients.Fighting for Affordable ChildcareI love my daughter, Poppy. And I know firsthand that childcare costs are astronomical even with just one kid and two parents working full-time. Raising a child is the most important thing I’ll ever do. I don’t want anyone to be forced to choose between earning a paycheck and doing right by their kids. To make childcare accessible in this country, we need to expand the supply and reform the subsidies so they reach more people. Affordable, accessible childcare requires an expanded Child Care Tax Credit, revising burdensome regulations that make small-scale child care financially impossible, recognizing home-based providers should be part of the system, and providing public support for working families that can’t afford childcare and can’t afford not to work.Fighting for Anti-Corruption PoliciesMy campaign is powered by people, not AIPAC, not super PACs, health insurance PACs, and certainly not corporate PACs like big oil and big pharma. Our elections and our politicians shouldn’t be bought and paid for. That’s why I’ve rejected big PAC money, AIPAC money, and that’s why I’ve created my Anti-Corruption Bill of Rights. Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and its allies are interested in one thing: getting richer on the backs of working families. Together, let’s win back the House and put an end to this blatant and rampant corruption. When I’m elected to Congress, I will fight for my:Anti-Corruption Bill of RightsOverturn Citizens United and Buckley v. ValeoBar members of Congress and the Administration from trading stocksBan Super PACSRequire the President and close family members to divest all business assets and place the value of those assets in a blind trust, and require them to be covered by the same federal conflict-of-interest laws that apply to all federal employees.Amend the Constitution to ban preemptive pardons and create a pardon board that includes the President, the Speaker of the House, and the Chief Justice of the United States. In addition, include a provision in this amendment that bars the president from issuing pardons to family and close advisors.Bar lobbyists and corporations from directly or indirectly fundraising for candidates at the federal level, and prevent corporations from contributing or donating to government events or functionsClose the congressional “revolving door” between members of Congress, their top aides, and powerful lobbying firmsCreate legislation to require disclosure of campaign donations by corporations and PACSCreate an effective and fully funded public financing system for political campaignsPass legislation clarifying that the Emoluments Clause forbids the President from personally profiting from private or public business dealings with foreign governmentsFighting for Tax CutsThere is no way to sugarcoat it: over the last 60 years, the middle class got a raw deal. As America grew richer, nearly all the gains went to the top 1%. Our tax system, meant to create opportunity for millions, is now working for fewer and fewer Americans. But we can fix that. True financial responsibility means everyone pays their fair share, so we can lower the deficit and put more money in the pockets of working families. By raising the corporate tax rate, increasing taxes on the highest earners, and eliminating loopholes like Carried Interest, we can finance the most effective tax breaks for working people to help more people afford a home, build a family, or start a business.Fighting for Social SecurityFor as long as I have been alive, out-of-touch politicians have been trying to gut our Social Security and Medicare to fund tax cuts for the wealthy; today is no different. Despite repeated promises they won’t touch Social Security or Medicare, recent staff cuts have crippled services for Social Security, and refused to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices on behalf of our seniors—the people who paid into the system and deserve the benefit. It is time to raise the cap on Social Security taxation to stabilize the trust fund and guarantee that Social Security will be truly secure for generations. If we allow Medicare to negotiate with big pharma over drug prices, we will lower the deficit and inflation at the same time. And on Medicaid, I will oppose any effort to throw the over 100,000 residents of CD2 off a system helping them survive and keeping our rural hospitals afloat. If we manage our federal debt through a balance of economic growth, changes to the tax code, and a more efficient government, we can protect these vital programs and make them stronger for the future.Fighting for Rural AmericaMinnesota farmers feed the world, keep food prices low, and keep small towns vibrant. But too often, D.C. undercuts the good work of family farmers through tariffs, overregulation, and by cutting programs that families need to make a decent living. As a result, family farms suffer, and communities in Greater Minnesota lose the money and people they need to grow. It is long past time to ensure every community in Minnesota and the country has access to the Internet and modern farming technology. We need to shift the power of tariff-setting in the government from the White House to Congress so that communities can have a say in policies that impact their businesses. We also need to expand connections between our agricultural producers and government programs like SNAP and meal programs that use the best products in the world to feed those who need it most. That’s how the government can work for family farms in CD2.Fighting for Safe NeighborhoodsPolice officers and first responders face incredibly tough jobs, often under the most difficult circumstances. That’s why I’ve consistently supported them throughout my career. But with that support comes a responsibility. When someone in uniform uses unnecessary force, or violates due process, they must be held accountable. At the same time, we need to equip first responders with the tools, training, and policies they need to succeed. When I was Mayor, I even offered to donate my salary to pay for police staffing. While I was Mayor of Lakeville, we worked hard to ensure first responders had the technology, equipment, and personnel needed to do their jobs effectively and safely. I fought to secure funding for new computer equipment and dedicated personnel to fight against the growing problem of online crime, a program that has led to numerous leads and arrests. At the MN Capitol, I fought to prioritize public safety by ensuring that our public safety departments have the support they need to succeed. That included preserving the pensions for police officers and firefighters, funding the Dakota County SMART center for best practices training, opposing cuts to police staff. People deserve police officers they can trust, which means funding pathways for all types of people to become cops and making it easier for law enforcement agencies to hire new cops from the community with non-traditional backgrounds. I will also fight to ensure our law enforcement agencies are equipped with the tools needed to address today’s problems, such as cyber crimes, fentanyl smuggling, and human trafficking.Fighting for Fair Student LoansFor decades, student loans have been an administrative train wreck, while reaping huge profits for unscrupulous companies. Many loans lock students and their families into huge debt at interest rates higher than market levels for mortgages. And, unlike mortgages, you can’t refinance student loans. Some loan servicers collect money from borrowers who do not owe anything, giving false information to borrowers, and advising deferment without explaining the consequences. Most students cannot access their loan services, or must wait online or on the phone for hours to receive deliberately vague and misleading answers. Millions of people have been denied the loan forgiveness they earned, increasing the debt burden by hundreds of millions. To make matters worse, SAVE plan borrowers have now been put into legal limbo, not knowing if, when, or how much they will need to pay on their loans. The Trump administration has threatened to privatize all student loans, which would hugely increase interest rates and fees while stripping the loans of the crucial protections they need to repay the loans without going bankrupt. Fighting for SeniorsOur seniors are the longest-serving taxpayers in the state, we need to make sure that they are able to retire right here in Minnesota. As a member of city government, I worked to open the Heritage Center to expand senior services in Lakeville. In 2019, after six years of work, expanding Metro Mobility to Lakeville, providing affordable transportation that enables seniors to live comfortable, dignified lives. I co-sponsored bipartisan legislation to make Social Security tax-exempt, putting more money in the pockets of seniors. I also consistently supported the efforts to reform elder care across the state to keep seniors safe.Fighting for VeteransThe current administration has set a goal to cut over 80,000 staff from Veterans Affairs. I will fight to restore the staff and funding. It’s simply not possible to meet our veterans’ needs while cutting their staff and support almost in half. Those cuts were reckless, disgraceful, and deeply disrespectful toward the veterans who volunteered to put their lives on the line for our country. When I served in the Minnesota Senate, I had the privilege to sit on the Veterans’ Affairs committee, and I always pushed for the needs of our state’s courageous citizens. Whether it’s advocating to restore vital funding for reintegration services, fighting off proposed cuts to the MN National Guard, or making sure veterans keep their housing, I will fight for our veterans. I also worked to bring visibility to the struggle of veterans and co-authored a bill to recognize Veteran Suicide Awareness day to bring attention to these challenges.Fighting for Clean Air & WaterMinnesota’s Second Congressional District (MN-02) is full of beautiful parks, trails, lakes, and rivers that provide a high quality of life and contribute to our economic vitality. Beyond these resources, a healthy environment with clean air and drinking water is essential for families, especially children, not to mention enormous impacts on businesses and property values. Climate change not only impacts our seasons, it has already damaged huge industries; from snowmobiles to ski resorts, and drought plagued farms to suffering caused by lyme disease. Climate change is already here, and it’s becoming an economic and environmental threat to our way of life. Similarly, whether it’s toxic waste dumped in our rivers, a local water quality crisis, or companies trying to ship water out of the County, actions like these put the long-term wellbeing of all residents at risk. Those who seek to take advantage of the health and vitality of our community will face no stronger opponent. Both my political and legal experiences, from securing bonding money for sewer systems in Dakota County to advocating for environmental protection across the State, have helped me understand that the health of our environment and the success of the economy go hand in hand. Whether that’s hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, or just taking a walk around Crystal Lake, our beautiful outdoor spaces are crucial for property values, businesses and tourism. — Matt Little's campaign website (June 28, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Little's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
Jobs & Economy
Matt has also supported small businesses by getting the city to join the “Open to Business” program that provides technical assistance and loan access to area start-ups. Moreover, Matt presented and passed a fast-track meeting policy whereby companies can request a special meeting, outside of normal meeting times, to speed up or keep their projects on track. This has been utilized on such projects like the new Hy-Vee grocery store. Matt will continue his support of the business community to bring more good quality jobs to our state.
Education
To build a world-class Minnesota education system, family choice must play an important role. When students can choose among different education options, it strengthens competition and raises education standards. Choice also gives diverse people from many areas access to high-quality schools across the state.
Seniors
I can’t wait to get to the Capitol to continue work on the important issues of senior transportation, elder care, rural healthcare, and fair senior tax policy. Our state isn’t ready for the major demographic shifts, so I plan to get us ahead of that curve.
Low Taxes
Mayor Matt Little has made smart, market-driven investments in infrastructure and personnel while keeping per capita taxes one of the lowest in Dakota County and the South Metro. As Mayor, he’s overseen unanimous, bi-partisan support for budgets that responsibly invest in the community while keeping a lid on taxes.
Public Safety
Matt has been a strong advocate for police officers and firefighters throughout his time as Mayor. He has worked to ensure they have the technology, equipment, and personnel needed to do their jobs effectively and safely. Matt secured funding for new computer equipment and specialized personnel to fight against the growing problem of online crime. This program has led to numerous arrests and convictions. At the Capitol, Matt will continue to make public safety a high priority by ensuring that our public safety departments have the support they need to be successful.[8]
