Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Martin Etwop came to this great land of the free as a missionary from Uganda 15 years ago. He served in Victorville CA as a church planter, then moved to Hollywood for 2 years ministering to the folks in one of the roughest places to live in America. His goal in Hollywood was to encourage people who had moved in from out of State with dreams of making it big in the movie industry only to find themselves hopeless, homeless, and desolate.
From Hollywood, Etwop moved to the San Francisco Area where he got married, raised a family, and worked at Tesla 12 a day in steel-toe boots, while also attending law school at night. He kept with his missionary work even there in the San Francisco area before moving to Conroe Texas.
With two girls, 6 and 8, and a now-5-months old son, Martin saw how far America was falling, and having come from a country that President Trump once rightly called "a shithole country", he could see the same things he experienced in Uganda starting to creep in and even be advocated for by the liberal left, things such as socialism, lawlessness, snatch and grab etcetera. Martin did not wish as he puts it for "his children to grow up in Uganda in America."
"With our current stupidity in spending, borrowing trillions of dollars from our greatest nemesis the Chinese Communist Party, or leaders are mortgaging our children's future to the CCP. And it is not us who will pay for this stupidity. It is our children and grandchildren. I will not let that happen"
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Defend the unborn. America is a land of opportunity and land where we all strive for life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Unfortunately, the left believe that the unborn child does not deserve to be given the chance to pursue their life and liberty. When our congressional representatives vote down the Born-Alive Abortion Survivor Protection Act, then you know how broken our society is. May God have mercy on us.Protect our borders and reimagine our immigration system. A nation cannot be sovereign without a border. So, to take back our nation we must protect our borders, by completing Trump's wall, supporting our border patrol officers by providing them all the equipment they need to enforce border security. That also includes giving them the respect and honor due from our president and senior government officials. We also need a moratorium on new admissions to the United States until the border issue is fixed. Immigration to the United States should be based on merit and the needs of the country, not on familial relationships and not even from the desires of big corporation to bring in foreign employers in order to avoid paying fellow Americans aEnd our out-of-control spending. We need a balanced budget Amendment; no additional raising of the debt limit and we need to scrap non-essential federal departments such as the IRS and the department of education (Education is a state issue so we should give education back to the States)
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about preserving life and our individual liberties. This includes no federal funding for abortion and no vaccine or any kind of mandates. The people's first and second amendment should also be left alone. The government through its proxies, "Big Tech" shouldn't be engaging in a crackdown on people's ability to speak freely, the government should also cease using the FBI and the IRS from harassing parents expressing themselves in school board meetings or religious organizations and businesses from expressing their deeply held convictions.
Another issue I am passionate about is Critical Race Theory. We cannot be teaching hate (CRT) claiming it to be teaching history. How can a nation survive when our children are being taught from as early as 5 years old that their classmate and best friend are the cause of the problems they ever had or will ever have, just because of the color of their skin?
As shown above, I am also very passionate about border security and immigration, being an immigrant myself.
Tax reform, we need that immediately. We should repeal the 16th Amendment (Income Tax Amendment) and instead only have a consumption tax or the fair tax. We shouldn't tax people for working, living or breathing, but rather only tax people's consumption.
Other issues I am passionate about include supporting and defending or men and women in uniform, opposing socialism, Marxism, and communism at all costs, and quality education through school choice.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Jesus my Lord and savior, so gentle, yet so powerful. I would like to be like Him and daily work toward conforming myself to Him. Another individual I use as example is Oswald Chambers (My Utmost For His Highest). I want to do the best I can do, be the best I can be to completely honor God and bring Him joy.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
The Bible
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Honors the constitution
Proud to be American
Stands for American families and people
Has a set of moral laws that they follow
Stands with Israel
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Standing for the people who elected them
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
The first historical event I remember was a military coup in Uganda. I was 5 years old then.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was as an English news anchor at a Radio station in Uganda. It lasted 6 months between my high school graduation, and my starting university education
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
The US House has members from all walks of life, and these people are from the communities they live in so they understand what their communities needs are.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
No. Previous experience can be good, but most of the problems we have today is because these experienced people start thinking that they own America. Often times they do need bring anything new to the discussion and they are beholden to Big corporations, not the American people.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Our greatest challenge will be coming together as a nation of conservative values and realizing that our greatest foe is the Chinese government. The CCP do not work by any set rules, and we should stop hamstringing ourselves with regulations that destroy our businesses while these same regulations help build the CCP.
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
The Ways and Means, Judiciary and Appropriation committees.
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Yes
What are your thoughts on term limits?
Term limits for Congress should be absolute. A House member should serve 3 terms (6 years), or at most 4 (8 years), and a senator should serve 2 terms (12 years).
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
Jim Jordan
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
A wonderful woman whose dad served in World War 2 told me of her family history recently. She mentioned that her dad who was one of those that the Japanese captured as POWs just before the end of the war and was headed to a concentration camp never spoke about his time in service, except for one time a few years ago before he passed, when in tears he told them that he did what he had to do to defend this nation and the whole world, and he would do it again. But that defending America came at a huge cost to many around the world and in honor of those that were lost, he did not want to talk about his service because he didn't want anyone giving him special attention when the real heroes died in the war.
This man and his family are true American heroes.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
Compromise is only desirable if we clearly know where the middle ground is, not today's compromise where the conservatives have to meet the liberal left on their terms, surrendering our conservative values and calling that compromise. Whenever we as conservatives surrender our values, we can never gain them back.
The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected?
I would only support bills that do not create additional burdens in the pockets of the American people. If we pass a bill to raise funds, we must eliminate other expenditures that are non -essential. Essential bills would include border security and sovereignty, funding our military and men and women in uniform. Non-essentials include bills that provide salaries and benefits for all the additional political appointees in DC and men and women like Fauci who have lost their way and should be retired. Other non-essentials include the IRS. Funded for these should be scrapped.
Additionally, I will only support bills that call for the lowering of Federal employees to pre-2020 levels.
Campaign website
Etwop's campaign website stated the following:
I am running to restore the foundation on which America was built, based on Judeo-Christian principles, individual liberties, personal responsibility, and an honorable work ethic. Here is how I propose to do it:
Impeach:
I will push to impeach President Biden for his role in the recent death of our warriors in Afghanistan.
Taxes:
If Americans must be taxed, they deserve a tax where they are only taxed on what they purchase, not on the income they earn. The consumption tax. This will simplify our convoluted tax system, and in fact, it will even help us get rid of all the unnecessary IRS audits and the IRS itself. That is the tax system that I propose and support.
Stand up to false liberal narratives:
I will stand up as a minority against the false narratives of AOC, the squad, and the liberal democrats who constantly lie to the American that republicans are racist bigots who don’t care.
Fiscal responsibility:
I will work with like-minded Americans in Congress to return America to fiscal responsibility through controlled spending. Our national debt has become unbearable, and unfortunately, our children will be made to pay for the current reckless spending. We have to save our children’s futures by going back to responsible spending.
Socialism:
I will vehemently oppose socialism, Marxism and the the liberal leftist re-distribution of wealth doctrine that stands against our American work ethics, the ethics that built the greatest nation on the planet. It is common knowledge that socialism and Marxism breeds anarchy and chaos, and we cannot accept a system that calls for destruction of other people’s livelihoods and life.
Defending the unborn:
Life begins at conception. “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you.” I will stand for and defend the life of the unborn and fight to take away from Biden and Pelosi the power to fund abortions with tax-payer money.
Individual liberties:
There can never be a pursuit of life liberty and happiness without protecting our religious liberty, freedom of choice, and free speech. I will stand to protect our liberties. Additionally I will ensure that we get rid of section 230 which gives big tech an unfettered free ride to monetize, police and suppress American freedoms without any kind of accountability. It is time for big tech to start being held for their role in the current rot and RIBs culture in America today.
Police, veterans and the military:
I will stand with our men and women in uniform, whom the Democrats have and continue to demonize for doing the toughest job in the world.
Our borders:
A nation’s sovereignty begins with how it protects its borders. I will fight to reinforce our borders by completing the wall, installing hi-tech border monitoring equipment, hiring more border patrol officers, and protecting against illegal immigration and lawlessness.
Second Amendments:
The defense of ones life, family and home is the most important responsibility an individual has. I will fight to ensure that every American who wants to is able to exercise their second amendment rights.
Education:
Quality education for our children is a fundamental right. I will advocate and ensure that school choice is available to all Americans, and will legislate the elimination of liberal indoctrination of our K-12 children, and ban the teaching of critical race theory (CRT) in our schools. Instead of CRT, I will propose the teaching of financial literacy in all schools.[3]
