What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

My priorities are promoting fairness, opportunity, & community by building an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top, with family-supporting wages and benefits for workers; investing in our future with great educational opportunities from pre-K through technical or 4-year college; empowering citizens in our democracy through open government & fair elections; & strengthening our communities & families through good roads & internet, public safety & justice, & clean air & water.[12][13]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

I am passionate about policies related to local government because I served on the City Council in Beloit for four years, and many of the day to day activities that most directly affect people's lives happen at the local level in our school districts, counties, and cities, villages, and towns. I am passionate about creating a vision for family farms for our next generation, maintaining and building upon our strong agricultural heritage while creating and serving new markets, and protecting land and water in partnership with farmers. I am passionate about equality and justice, using my personal experience as a gay person to advocate for LGBTQ equality, working toward a law enforcement and justice system that is truly just and without racial disparities, addressing racial disparities in education, healthcare, and job opportunities, ending the pay gap for women, and working to fully respect and include immigrants and religious minorities in our state and communities.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[13]

[the profile publisher] also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Mark Spreitzer answered the following:

What process do you favor for redistricting?

I strongly support a non-partisan process for legislative and congressional redistricting, such as the Iowa-model, which requires districts to be drawn by non-partisan bill-drafters according to strict, non-partisan criteria such as compactness and keeping communities together, and then submitted to the legislature for a yes or no vote. I would also support going a step further to take redistricting out of the legislature's hands entirely, using a state constitutional amendment to empower a non-partisan commission to draw legislative and congressional districts after each census.[13]
