In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Maria grew up in a family dedicated to public service. With her mother, a nurse, and her father, a decorated veteran, Maria knew she needed to serve. She has worked to uncover the truth as an investigative reporter and fought for Nevada's citizens and businesses as an attorney. Now, she's running to serve in Carson City to bring transparency and accountability to the state legislature.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Jobs & Economy:
Maria will strengthen Nevada's economy by cutting red tape for small businesses, reducing regulations and promoting positive working conditions and careers in the trades. While reasonable rules are necessary to ensure safety and accountability, too many regulations exist solely to obstruct competition and make it harder for small businesses and entrepreneurs to succeed.Public Safety:
Every Nevadan deserves to feel safe where they live, work and send children to school. Maria will support law enforcement and first responders and focus on keeping crime off our streets and families safe by cracking down on drug traffickers and organized theft.Accountability:
Legislators work for the people of Nevada, not the other way around. Maria will champion transparency and fiscal responsibility in Carson City so you can be confident that your elected officials are fighting for you. Maria will work to ensure elected officials are held to the same standards as the people they serve.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Healthcare:
Maria is committed to bringing more medical specialists to Nevada and reducing wait times so families can access quality local care. Maria understands these needs on a deeply personal level. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer after moving to Las Vegas. Her family experienced firsthand how shortages of doctors, nurses and medical specialists, combined with the rising costs of care can delay critical treatment. Too many Nevadans are forced to leave the state just to receive basic testing or see a specialist. Maria will strive to ensure access to quality healthcare without being dependent on geography or income.
