In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m Margaret Spear, and I’m running for State Representative because I believe our community deserves practical leadership that listens first and solves problems second.
After 18 years with no Democrat challenging the Republican party in Catoosa County, I’m interested in making sure District 3 is represented by someone who is looking out for the everyday realities of the families who live here, and is who is ready to be held accountable to our community.
I’m a neighbor, a problem-solver, and someone who believes good policy starts with common sense and respect for the people it impacts. I’m running to bring thoughtful, steady leadership to Atlanta, focused on what works for us here at home.
I currently work as Chief of Staff for a local civil engineering firm, where I work every day to keep projects moving, budgets balanced, and teams aligned.
I live in Ringgold with my partner and our five animals, and I care deeply about the future of our community. I am running for Georgia House District 3 to protect and invest in Georgia’s public schools, preserve local decision-making and responsible state governance, and improve healthcare access for families across our state. I believe the government should be accountable, fiscally responsible, and focused on solving real problems for the people it serves.
I enjoy baking, hiking, pinball, baby goats, gardening, euchre, and glitter.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Strong public schools are one of the best investments we can make in Georgia’s future. I believe every child deserves access to a quality education, every teacher deserves support and respect, and every community deserves schools that are set up to succeed. I will fight for policies that strengthen public education and keep opportunity within reach for families in District 3.The people of Georgia know their communities better than politicians in Atlanta, DC, or power brokers far away. I believe in protecting local decision-making, keeping government accountable, and focusing on practical solutions that actually work for the people who live here. Good government should be responsible, transparent, and grounded in the real needs of everyday Georgians.Families should be able to get the care they need without unnecessary barriers. That includes improving access to healthcare in our communities and taking maternal health seriously as a public priority. Georgia families deserve policies that support healthier pregnancies, healthier parents, healthier babies, and stronger communities overall.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am personally passionate about public education, healthcare access, and making government more responsive to the people it serves.
Public schools are one of the foundations of a strong community. Teachers, students, and parents deserve support that is practical, consistent, and grounded in what is actually happening in classrooms.
Healthcare access is also a major issue in Northwest Georgia. Families should not have to delay care, drive long distances, or navigate impossible systems just to get basic medical support.
Lastly, I believe government should be accountable to ordinary people. Representatives should be accessible, honest, and willing to listen, not just during campaign season, but all the time.
