Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Marcus Vaughn and I am proud to be a Republican candidate for the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, for the 9th Norfolk district.
I plan on bringing my experience as a successful entrepreneur in the private sector to work for policies that bring more funding to our towns and school systems and an economy that works for everyone.
Naturally, I have received the question on why me and why now? I’m running for Massachusetts State Representative because I know we can do better for Massachusetts, and I have the desire, experience, and mindset to help people, serve my community, and get things done — and done right. As Abraham Lincoln said “we are a government of the people, for the people, and by the people.” The people of Massachusetts were guaranteed by the Constitution to have the authority to run this country through our elected representatives. I am doing this out of my desire to help people in my district and Massachusetts alike, to get things done, and be a guiding light of common sense and decency at the Massachusetts General Assembly.
People are the heart and strength of our community. However, there is no guarantee a community will stay strong overtime. Moving Massachusetts and the 9th Norfolk district forward will require sending leaders to Beacon Hill who recognize the values and needs of our community.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Protect Your Tax DollarsDefend Public SafetyPromote Local Buisnesses
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
One of the great benefits of public service is the scale of the policies you create that can truly help people connect themselves and their neighborhoods to the many essential services that the state government provides. Today, too many politicians want to talk and not listen to their constituents’ needs. If elected, I plan on doing a whole lot more listening than talking.
There is much work to be done on important initiatives such as: recovering from these past two + years, improving our schools, limiting wasteful spending, keeping opioids and other drugs out of our communities (while backing the work of our dedicated law enforcement), protecting our democracy and, and much more.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
9/11. I was in class at North Attleboro HS.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
Cash Register at my grandfathers barbershop in Egleston Square Boston Ma. Started at age of 8 and worked every holiday break and summer until 17 yo.
