In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Accounting / Tax professional running for State Treasurer. The Treasurer's office is mostly an oversight position carrying out the decisions of the legislature. However, there are areas where the Treasurer can influence the state of the state. This includes oversight of the state and employees pension, which is in a $5B deficit position right now. Finding ways to reduce this burden on Vermonters is a high priority. Also, using programs to help the collective good rather than certain sectors of groups of people is more beneficial to the overall financial wellbeing of the community. Reducing spending waste and controlling fraud is high on the list.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I'm especially passionate about our farmers who feed us. Without them, where would we be? I'm also keen on keeping the Vermont way of life in tact to pass down among the generations. And that means protection for hunters and fishers. Although out of the treasurer's direct control, property rights are very important as well.
