In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am an Idaho attorney, community advocate, and mother dedicated to public service, ethical leadership, and upholding the rule of law. My campaign priorities are to follow the Constitution and other laws of the state, restore ethical accountability, respect institutional boundaries, and deliver steady, principled legal leadership.
A graduate of Borah High School, I went on to study finance at Brigham Young University and then attended Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, graduating with honors in 1991. I have over 20 years of legal experience ranging from private practice at firms of various sizes, serving as in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 company, and clerking for the United States District Court of Idaho. I also serve as pro bono counsel for guardians in child protection cases.
In addition to my legal career, I am a devoted mother, outdoor enthusiast, and an active community member who believes in principled, ethical government. I provide pro bono legal counsel for guardian ad litems in child protection cases, serve on neighborhood homeowner association boards in Boise and McCall, and cherish the many years I volunteered as an Art Mom in my children’s elementary school classes. I am the former board chair and a current member of Mormon Women for Ethical Government.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I will restore trust and integrity to the Attorney General’s Office. A good lawyer never lets politics corrupt their legal work. Neither should the Attorney General. State agencies, the Land Board, and the people of Idaho all depend on the Attorney General’s office to provide sound legal advice based on the rule of law, to hire the best people based on ethics and skill, and put the best interests of Idahoans ahead of narrow and divisive ideologies. It is essential for the Attorney General to provide prompt, accurate, and authoritative legal opinions to legislators and state officials as well as to highlight legal weaknesses that would invite costly court challenges. I will consistently follow and defend the law as written, regardless of political pressure. The Attorney General is the people’s lawyer. That means protecting consumers, keeping communities safe, defending the Constitution, and providing honest, independent legal advice to state agencies and elected officials. It means doing what the law requires, even when it is politically inconvenient. Throughout my legal career — from a major law firm in New York City to Micron Technology to representing clients here in Idaho — I have built my reputation on integrity, professionalism, and sound legal judgment.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about protecting federal lands, preserving women’s access to safe healthcare, defending Idaho waters, ensuring Idaho’s School Endowment Lands are managed responsibly, combating fraud, defending public education, safeguarding our elections, and supporting our justice system.
