In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Logan Patberg is a father, educator and lifelong resident of Southwestern Indiana. He is a public school educator in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and serves on the board of the Evansville Teachers Association. Prior to serving his community as an educator, Logan spent a decade working in the automotive and agricultural industries. Logan wants to bring a pragmatic, commonsense approach to the statehouse where real results for Hoosiers are the top priority.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Families in Southwestern Indiana have been feeling the strain from the rising cost of living and want their concerns addressed. Everyday people are choosing which bills to pay each month between the increased cost of groceries, energy, and healthcare. Addressing working Hoosiers affordability issues are the top priority of this campaign to ensure Hoosiers can get a fair shot. It shouldn't be this hard to get ahead and I want to help put regular Hoosiers first, not special interests.Raising a family in Southwestern Indiana shouldn’t feel overwhelming and unobtainable. Housing costs are rising, childcare is hard to find, and too many families are being squeezed just trying to get by. Hoosiers want more affordable places to live, support for local childcare providers, and real relief for working parents. I want to incentivize our young families to establish roots here so our communities can continue to thrive.Healthcare costs are increasing for our seniors and a lot of them are feeling uncertain about their retirements. Folks are putting off care or stressing about bills, and that’s not how it should be. There are commonsense, practical steps we can take to bring down common prescription costs and make it easier to see a doctor close to home. Legislators should be making sure people can get help when they need it without worrying about the cost of care bankrupting them.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

As a public educator, I personally believe education is the ultimate equalizer. I strive for our state to be a leader in K-12 public education so our students have every opportunity to succeed in the next step of their lives. Local public schools are pillars of the small communities of Southwestern Indiana and they deserve to be treated as vital infrastructure for the students that rely on them every day. The students in our schools today will be the next generation of adults working in our local communities and want them exposed to a high quality education. As a candidate, I'll continue to fight for resources for students, support for educators and adequate funding for our local schools.
