Elizabeth "Liz" Larson earned a bachelor's degree in international development and environmental studies from The Evergreen State College and a master's degree in international studies from the University of Oregon. She also earned a certificate in documentary photography from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and a certificate in digital money, banking, and financial support services from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.[2]

Liz Larson grew up in Sioux Falls and is a working mom running for State Senate in District 10. Liz has a passion for community empowerment and wants to use it to make the world a better place—starting right here in our own backyard.
With over 20 years of experience in project management and policy advising in the United States and abroad, Liz is experienced with setting goals, building coalitions and getting the job done. Her experience is rooted in the values she grew up with – integrity, compassion, and hard work. Liz is the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran and the wife of a law enforcement officer. She’s a mom to two wonderful children and understands what’s at stake for the next generation

Quality education should be available to ALL South Dakotans – from pre-K to post-high school.Hard-working South Dakotans should live in a world where medical expenses do not bankrupt families.South Dakotans need a dynamic business environment with quality opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and growth – where everyone has the chance to work hard and thrive.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am personally interested in preserving our democracy and bringing a fresh common-sense voice to the SD legislature. Beyond that, my professional background is in finance and economic development for vulnerable communities, so I am particularly interested in that
