In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Lauren Reinhold was born in Missouri, but spent most of her life in Kansas. As a child, her parents, committed public servants, moved between Kansas and Missouri. Lauren chose the University of Kansas for law school in 1993 and began her legal career in 1996. For nearly 30 years, Lauren has served the public as a Legal Aid attorney, immigration attorney, disability advocate, union leader, and federal government administrator. Lauren's 16 years of federal experience equip her with the broad and unique experience to advocate for the people of Kansas at the federal level. Lauren has never worked for corporate interests and will join Congress without the corporate bias and corruption most federal elected officials bring.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Everyone in our nation should be able to secure a job that pays ALL the bills (including affordable housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, higher education, etc.), with money left over to save for the future. Until all employment pays a living wage, a segment of our society will be indentured servants, dependent on low-paying jobs with little rights.Congress must act to make life affordable and prosperous for all of us. The solution to our economic embarrassment as a nation requires tax reform (the rich must pay their share), healthcare reform (affordable, quality, accessible care for all), humane immigration reform (to allow hardworking residents a path to citizenship), support for small businesses, sensible agricultural policy, and a steep increase to the minimum wage, as a start. Our federal government needs to be reformed to serve the people in all aspects. It should not serve corporations, a party, and the ultra-rich. DOGE has taken over all agencies with the goal to cripple them, reduce services, and further enrich the wealthy and implement the Project 2025 plan. We must fight to reverse Project 2025.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about all aspects of public policy, as everything, from immigration to health, from trade to labor protections, for instance, impact the Kansans in our district. I will do my job as your congressperson without regard to my personal interests and pet projects, as all issues are important.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

I attained the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense candidate designation.

Campaign websiteReinhold's campaign website stated the following:Rebuilding Rural HealthcareLauren believes healthcare is a right, not a luxury. No Kansan should have to drive hours, wait months, or go into debt just to see a doctor. She is committed to protecting rural hospitals, expanding local healthcare training pipelines, and lowering our medical costs. All Kansas families deserve access to affordable, quality care close to home. Community hospitals are the lifeline of our communities, and Lauren will fight to keep them open and strong. As a member of Congress, Lauren will fight for federal legislation to fix our broken healthcare system, lower outrageous medical care costs, and improve rural healthcare access and funding. She will push back against policies that shift costs onto states and patients. She supports expanding training opportunities and student loan forgiveness for medical professionals who commit to serving rural communities. The federal government must shoulder its fair share of healthcare funding, rather than leaving states and rural Kansans to pick up the tab. Supporting Agriculture and Rural EconomiesLauren Reinhold is committed to standing with farm families and strengthening the small-town economies that keep Kansas strong. She believes farmers deserve fair markets, stable prices, and federal policies that work for producers—not corporate monopolies that squeeze family operations and rural communities. Lauren will advocate for policies that protect Kansas agriculture and ensure rural communities can grow and thrive. In Congress, Lauren will fight for a strong, modern Farm Bill that reflects the real needs of Kansas producers, informed by the voices of organizations like the National Farmers Union and the Kansas Farmers Union. She will oppose cuts to SNAP and USAID that hurt farmers and families alike and work to restore funding that supports food security and rural economies. Lauren is also committed to keeping Kansas represented on the House Agriculture Committee, because Kansas farmers deserve a strong voice at the table when agricultural policy is written.Strengthening Worker's RightsLauren believes fair wages and working conditions are essential to a strong Kansas economy. She supports modernizing and strengthening federal labor protections, so workers in every industry have a real voice on the job. She believes every Kansan deserves the opportunity to secure a job that pays a living wage, and small businesses deserve a chance to prosper. Lauren believes CEOs who make outrageous pay should be taxed more, along with their corporations. In Congress, Lauren will work closely with community and labor organizations in our district and listen to workers and families to address the challenges they face. She will fight for legislation that cracks down on corporate monopolies that take advantage of hardworking Kansans. When working families and small businesses can prosper, Kansas is stronger. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt said at a Kansas campaign stop in 1932, “This Nation cannot endure if it is half ‘boom’ and half ‘broke.’”  Restoring trust though AccountabilityLauren believes that government should serve you - not a political agenda. As a former federal employee, she knows that our democracy depends on a professional, independent and non-partisan workforce. These experts should be loyal to the law and the public, not to whoever happens to be in the White House. Lately, some politicians have tried to turn these non-partisan jobs into political appointments. Lauren will fight these efforts as Kansas families deserve stable, skilled professionals - not political "yes-men" who can be fired for doing their jobs. But protecting workers is only half the battle. True accountability requires strong Congressional oversight. Lauren will utilize those powers and the "power of the purse" to ensure every federal agency is transparent and held to the highest standards Kansans expect from their government. By reinforcing our system of checks and balances, Lauren will ensure our government stays focus on its core mission: remaining professional, transparent, and above all, accountable to the law and to you.Worker-first Immigration ReformDrawing on her experience as an immigration attorney, Lauren will advocate for long-overdue common-sense immigration reform that addresses our need for a stable agricultural workforce and family unity while securing the border and making sure our deportation policies are fair and humane. In Congress, Lauren will work for legislation that provides a fair path to citizenship for people who have been contributing to our society and our communities. She will bring to the table her government and legal background to demand a fair and efficient immigration court process staffed by qualified judges, focusing on policies that treat immigrant families and communities with dignity and respect. Securing Today and TomorrowAs a former Social Security Administration employee, Lauren Reinhold has seen firsthand how underfunding and political interference make it harder for seniors, people with disabilities, and working families to receive the benefits they earned through a lifetime of work. Social Security is not a handout—it is an earned benefit that Americans pay into every paycheck. When offices are understaffed and services are weakened, Kansans who did everything right are the ones who pay the price. In Congress, Lauren will fight to protect and strengthen Social Security as the earned benefit it has always been. She supports scrapping the cap on income subject to Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes so the wealthiest pay their fair share and the trust funds remain solvent for future generations. Lauren will also work to restore the Social Security Administration’s budget to its historical baseline of 1.2 percent of total benefits, ensuring proper staffing and timely, respectful service for every American who earned these benefits.— Lauren Reinhold's campaign website (July 29, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
