Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Laura Perry is a mother, business owner, community leader, coach, and Republican candidate for Michigan's 31st House District.

Laura earned an athletic scholarship to play NCAA Division II soccer at Upper Iowa University, graduating in three years with bachelor's degrees in Finance, Business Administration, and Sociology. She later earned her MBA in Marketing and Professional Sales from the University of Toledo.

Her career has spanned both the public and private sectors, including helping develop the City of Toledo's Wage Garnishment Program and serving nearly a decade as a healthcare staffing executive working with VA hospitals, military bases, schools, correctional facilities, and other government agencies.

Today, Laura owns All Heart Athletics, a locally grown sporting goods, custom apparel, and awards company, and co-founded L&B Perry Capital, a real estate investment company focused on community redevelopment.

Laura serves as Chair of the Village of Dundee Downtown Development Authority, Commissioner on the City of Monroe Downtown Development Authority, a Board Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of the Project SEARCH Business Advisory Council. She has also coaches girls varsity soccer at St. Mary Catholic Central for the past seven years.

Laura is running to fight for lower taxes, local control, stronger schools, safe communities, parental rights, small businesses, and a government that puts Michigan families first.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Economic Opportunity & Affordability: Laura's policy approach centers on reducing household and business costs through tax and regulation refrom; eliminating the state property tax for seniors and veterans with the goal of extending to all homestead owners. Support for small businesses, and workforce development. Laura is committed to examining and reforming how the costs of large industrial developments, including electricity infrastructure and grid upgrades, are allocated to ratepayers. The approach includes evaluating the economic effects of state energy policies and renewable energy requirements on electricity rates, grid reliability, business competitiveness, and long-term affordability for residential and commercial ratepayers.Education: Laura's policy approach supports structured literacy instruction, including systematic phonics, universal early literacy screening and coaching, and reading proficiency benchmarks before students advance from third to fourth grade. It also includes expanding access to Career and Technical Education (CTE) by introducing career exploration in middle school and providing pathways for students to begin CTE programs in high school. The approach further supports access to school-based mental health services, including telehealth options, to increase availability of care and help reduce barriers to student behavioral health support.Government Accountability: This policy approach emphasizes transparency, responsible fiscal management, public safety, and infrastructure investment. It includes evaluating the use of public funds through performance-based oversight, such as measuring program outcomes and administrative costs to improve accountability. It also supports strengthening the capacity of independent oversight entities, including the Office of the Auditor General, to review state spending and identify inefficiencies. The approach further emphasizes transparency in public contracting, appropriations, and ethics requirements to help reduce conflicts of interest and increase public confidence in government decision-making.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Laura's professional and volunteer experience has led her to spend considerable time studying issues related to economic development, education, workforce readiness, government accountability, infrastructure, and public safety. Through work as a business owner, downtown development leader, varsity coach, and community volunteer, she become particularly interested in how public policy affects families, local businesses, students, and taxpayers. She also follows issues involving literacy, career and technical education, energy policy, fiscal oversight, and the effectiveness of government programs.
