Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I intend to restore affordability to homeowners through market adjustments of the Homeowners Property Tax Exemption and removal of the sales tax on groceries. No primary homeowner should be taxed out of their home because of overheated real estate markets. Also, with inflation at its current level, the sales tax on food is effectively robbing many lower income earners about $30 a week in groceries for a family of four.I believe we need to restore full funding to public K-12 education, particularly in the areas of operations, building maintenance and construction. This will reduce the need to constantly run levy elections to cover these aspects of educational costs. Providing dedicated funding to homeschooling and private schools while defunding public schools is in stark contradiction to the State Constitution.By preserving governmental ownership of public lands I will be maintaining a cornerstone of the Idaho experience. Selling off the state and national wildlands will reduce the opportunity for outdoor recreation in Idaho. Private ownership will lead to further restrictions and closures as currently exist on Potlatch-Deltec landholdings.
