In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m Ky Holland, running for reelection to the Alaska State House because I believe we can build a stronger future by creating opportunity, solving problems, and investing in the next generation.
I’m an engineer, business leader, educator, and community builder with over 35 years of experience growing organizations, creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurs, and strengthening local economies. Before the Legislature, I worked in manufacturing, technology, economic and workforce development, giving me a broad understanding of Alaska’s challenges and opportunities.
As your representative, I’ve worked across party lines on practical solutions in education, energy, public safety, transportation, economic development, wildfire resilience, and government transparency. I believe good policy comes from facts, analysis, and collaboration—not ideology.
At the core of my work is a simple belief: Alaska’s future should be built by Alaskans. We need an economy where families can stay, businesses can grow, and young people can build careers.
Government should play a focused role—supporting strong schools, reliable infrastructure, public safety, and responsible stewardship—while creating a stable environment for success.
I will continue bringing a balanced, independent, and business-informed perspective while working with anyone committed to moving Alaska forward.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Shared Outcomes, Stronger Alaska
Alaska is home to people with different values, backgrounds, and visions for the future. I don’t believe we have to agree on everything to make meaningful progress. My approach is to start by identifying the outcomes we share—strong communities, good schools, affordable energy, economic opportunity, safe neighborhoods, and a healthy environment—and then work together to achieve them. By focusing on shared outcomes instead of political divisions, we can build practical solutions that respect Alaska’s diversity while moving our state forward together.Practical Progress Builds Trust
Alaskans have always solved hard problems by rolling up our sleeves and working together. Too often, we’ve spent years waiting for one big project or one perfect solution while other opportunities were left behind. I believe we should make steady, practical progress on the challenges we can solve today—improving schools, strengthening infrastructure, expanding economic opportunity, reducing wildfire risk, and supporting local communities. Every success builds trust, confidence, and experience, making us better prepared to tackle even bigger challenges together tomorrow.Building Alaska’s Future Together
Alaska’s future will be built by Alaskans—through strong communities, successful businesses, quality education, reliable infrastructure, and responsible stewardship. My goal is to strengthen our capacity to shape that future by investing in people, supporting communities, and ensuring local businesses can grow and compete. By building capability and encouraging innovation, we can create a more diverse and resilient economy. With thoughtful development and a focus on long-term strength, Alaska can remain adaptable, self-reliant, and ready for new opportunities.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping people and communities build the future they want for themselves and future generations. Whether facilitating community planning, helping entrepreneurs launch new businesses, supporting nonprofit organizations, expanding workforce development, or serving in the Legislature, I’ve found the greatest satisfaction in helping others turn their ideas into action. I believe government is most effective when it strengthens the capacity of people, businesses, and communities to solve problems, seize opportunities, and create lasting prosperity. My goal is not to define Alaska’s future for others, but to help create the conditions that allow Alaskans to build it together.
