In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Krissy Guess, and I’m a proud Texas mom, business leader, and lifelong advocate for fairness, opportunity, and accountability. I’m 44 years old, a mother of three daughters, and I’ve been married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart, a public school teacher who has served our community for the past 14 years. Public education isn’t an abstract issue in our household—it’s our daily reality.

I was born and raised here in Texas House District 60, and now I’m raising my family here. I didn’t set out planning to run for office, but I reached a point where I felt I couldn’t look my daughters in the eye if I didn’t try to make our community safer, stronger, and full of opportunity for their generation.

I graduated as valedictorian of Azle High School in 2000, earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Tarleton State University in 2004, and later completed my MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. For more than two decades, I’ve worked at Litex Industries, a Texas-based lighting manufacturer and distributor in Grand Prairie, where I now oversee operations. That experience has given me a clear understanding of how policy decisions affect workers, families, and local businesses.

I’m running because government should work for people—not corporations, special interests, or political insiders.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

As the mother of three daughters, women’s health is deeply personal to me. Every woman deserves access to safe, affordable healthcare, including preventive care, maternal healthcare, and the services needed to protect their long-term health and well-being. Texas families deserve policies that support mothers before, during, and after pregnancy, expand access to doctors and healthcare providers, and protect access to fertility treatments like IVF for families struggling to have children. Our public schools are being underfunded and distracted by political agendas instead of focusing on student success. I will invest in teachers, classrooms, and proven educational outcomes so neighborhood schools are fully staffed, well-funded, and free to do what they do best: educate our kids.Water is one of the most important—and increasingly strained—resources in House District 60. With rapid growth, increased industrial demand, and the expansion of high-water-use facilities like data centers, we are putting serious pressure on our local water supply.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Rural healthcare, fully funding our public schools, saying no to data centers, and affordability.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Texas Progressive Caucus
