Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been a West Chester resident since 1970. I was the first kindergarten class at Penn Wood Elementary, the first 7th grade at Fugett Middle School, and graduated from East High School in 1983. I spent 2 years at the then Lima Campus of Penn State University for Electrical Engineering and transferred to West Chester University, while changing my major to Business and Computer Science – graduated with a BS degree in 1988.
I spent nearly 25 years working in various IT positions – from building and selling desktop computers to Executive positions in a number of companies, including the largest international software company in the world. I’ve worked in IT services, healthcare, media, software, and audio/visual fields – managing people, projects, and finances.
Following my career in IT, I turned what had always been a hobby and skillset into a successful and respected regional business – Vollrath Renovations, a design/build company specializing in Kitchen, Bath, and Basement projects. The company, headquartered in West Chester, allows me to work creatively and passionately with clients throughout the region.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
It has begun…What has been discussed in conservative media and hushed in liberal media for months – those crossing illegally are increasingly involved in crime all over the country. And this has begun to impact Southeastern PA in a negative way, as well. provide for safer communities." With Philadelphia being a sanctuary city in such close proximity, it’s no wonder crime rates have risen. House Bill 1840 intends to eliminate sanctuary cities in Pennsylvania.
Taxpayers in our state should be the number one priority. And safety should be of the utmost importance. When elected, I will support HB1840 and other House Bills that strengthen our legal system and provide for safer communities. In 2023, Pennsylvania accounted for 20% of total U.S. natural gas output. Pennsylvania is also the largest exporter of electricity in the US, meaning states in the NE rely on PA produced natural gas. Through 2024 and beyond, the role of natural gas will be essential to American energy security. In January, the Biden administration announced a pause on natural gas export applications. This is just the latest attempt to undermine the importance of the domestic natural gas industry. Not only is it essential to curbing efforts by Russia and other bad players trying to weaponize energy, but enhanced access to affordable and clean US NG is directly tied to human progress and significant climate-related emission reductions. The seven largest cities in the state are bleeding residents at an alarming rate due to high crime rates, high cost of living, and lack of opportunities.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Strong schools teaching the core disciplines, not woke ideologies; Safe and secure neighborhoods; Constructive business environments; Conservative use of tax funds
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
My father taught me so much when I was young. My love of cars (and working on them my entire life) is a direct result of learning to do maintenance at his side. At a very young age, I could dismantle much around the house - not always able to reassemble, to my father's dismay (I specifically remember a vacuum cleaner that was in pieces on the family room floor when he came home from work one evening - I was probably 7-8). He was an engineer and I pursued that course for a time in college, as well. He also worked for IBM for most of his working years which was passed to me with the purchase of the first IBM PC, which I programmed on and upgraded for quite some time. My love of computers and a 25+ year IT career was also a direct result of his impact in my early computer access. Now, owning my own construction company is again a direct connection to so many building projects with him in my youth.
