In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
In my lifetime, access to affordable housing, the ability to get a good-paying job in your home town, that sense of community, and that extended support of family and friends in our cities and towns has been hard-hit by tough economics, over-stuffed schools, and a crisis in affordable housing. Right here in Springfield, it has become harder and harder for all of us to give our families that strong foundation of security to help weather the unexpected challenges of life.
These are hard times. And hard times require experienced, compassionate, and focused leadership. This is the time for collaboration and common sense; for putting the needs of ordinary people at the center of our decisions; for strengthening the accountability for how we spend taxpayer resources; and for showing up ready to build a future with opportunities and a focus on making room for everyone.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Eliminate barriers to building housing at all levels--tackling support for local infrastructure to make it possible for communities to grow, we need to dig into condominium reform, support for public/private partnerships and creative collaborations--we need more housing and we need housing that fits in our communities at every price pointGet families what they need to thrive--quality, affordable childcare; strong neighborhood schools with talented and supported educators, access to affordable and nutritious food, access to healthcare, safe outdoor spaces, and the services needed to meet the changing and special needs of growing familiesSafe streets, safe neighborhoods, and safe communities--working on improving policing, fire safety, and emergency services for the city over the past few years has given me a breadth of experience and understanding of how we can provide public safety that is professional and progressive. I’m committed to working to keep everyone safe--our first responders, residents, and visitors and this takes creativity, collaboration, and adequate resources.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Affordable and accessible childcare, affordable housing, supporting public education, affordable healthcare, and inclusive economic development with living wage jobs
