In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Khristian Silvis is a veteran, wife, and mother of two.

Khristian served in the U.S. Army as a combat veteran in Afghanistan. While on tour as a combat medic, she learned first-hand the importance of leadership, teamwork, and resilience, skills that have stayed with her throughout her career.

After her time in the military, Khristian continued serving her community by working alongside members of Congress in New York and West Michigan, connecting people with the resources they needed and ensuring their voices were heard in Washington, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Michigan families.

Her experiences, from her tour in Afghanistan to her advocacy work in West Michigan, have shaped Khristian’s approach: listening closely, acting decisively, and putting people first.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability and Building the Middle Class.

I want every family to have the opportunity to succeed. I'll work to create more economic opportunities by supporting good-paying jobs, making healthcare more affordable and accessible, and expanding access to quality, affordable childcare so working families can get ahead instead of just getting by.Strengthen Public Education

Every child deserves a great education, no matter where they live. I'll work to invest in our public schools, support teachers, and create more pathways to college, skilled trades, and good-paying careers so every student has the opportunity to succeed.Supporting our Veterans and First Responders

As an Army combat veteran, I understand the commitment and sacrifice that come with serving others. I'll be a strong voice for veterans and first responders by improving access to benefits, healthcare, mental health services, and the resources they need to continue serving our communities.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Education:

Our future success is dependent on the education of our youth. Providing good education that prepares all children for the future is imperative to ensure a prosperous future for all.

Health Care:

Every person should have the opportunity to have access to quality and affordable healthcare.
