In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a Wyoming native, surgeon, father, husband, son, and small business owner. After training to be a surgeon at the world class institution of Dartmouth, Stanford, and Harvard, I returned to my hometown of Casper to bring the highest quality of surgical care to the state.

I am running for State Senate because I believe that the qualities and skills that have allowed me to be a great surgeon can be applied to the State Senate as well. Decisions grounded in faith, level-headedness with a steady hand under pressure, and an altruistic desire to serve the people around me will guide me to make the decisions that serve our neighbors well.

Key issues I will address include the rising cost and decreased accessibility of healthcare in Wyoming. We face unique challenges in our frontier and a rural healthcare state. These challenges, however, present a unique opportunity for us to develop a system that will allow us to develop a system that provides great care close to home.

I will do everything possible to protect the unborn, who do not have a voice of their own. I will defend the second amendment and entire constitution. Public lands must be protected. Government should stay small, and taxes should remain low, but we must also provide necessary services. Education should be prioritized as the gateway to growth and retention of our young people.

Divisiveness in our enemy. We must unite around the common goal of keeping Wyoming the greatest state in the country.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I will make healthcare more accessible and more affordable. With the arrival of the Rural Health Transformation Program funding, we face an unprecedented opportunity to support essential healthcare services and grow new pathways for offering high quality, affordable healthcare as close to home as possible. At the same time we must safeguard this windfall from ill-conceived ideas that jeopardize the longevity of that funding. My day to day life experience as a doctor caring for patients from all over Wyoming has given me a unique perspective on the needs required for our frontier and healthcare system to thrive.I will work to grow and refine educational opportunities that will entice our young people to stay and build their lives right here in Wyoming. With emerging industries in Wyoming, we should be developing training and education programs that allow those industries to be driven in Wyoming by people from Wyoming. This extends through all levels of training and education. Now is not the time to reduce funding for educational opportunities. Indeed, if we want to succeed long term in recruiting and retaining young people and fostering business, we must support educational opportunities as much as possible. We must have a pipeline from education to careers in Wyoming. We must work collaboratively with one another and make every effort to remove divisiveness from politics. All too often we see politicians who are unwilling to listen or respectfully disagree with one another. I commit that I will work with anyone who shares my vision of working together to serve the best interests of Wyoming. I believe we will be able to accomplish more if we can all collaborate respectfully, even if we do not agree.
