Background

Kevin Crutchfield graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1978. Crutchfield earned an associate degree from Broome Community College in 1981 and a computer science equivalency from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. He also became a certified purchasing manager and received his general contractor license, his electrical contracting license, and underwriter laboratories (UL) manufacturing certification.[1]

Crutchfield's career experience includes working as an electronic technician engineer, purchasing agent, and software developer for IBM Corporation, a national sales manager for Cabarrus Plastics, the vice president of operations for Rite Lite Signs, president and CEO of the Crutchfield Group, and president and chief financial officer of Casco Signs.[1]

Life long Republican, pro life supporter, 2nd amendment supporter, protect women in sports supporter. Small business owner (4) law enforcement supporter. Small business advocate in Raleigh cattle farmer, contractor. Living the American Dream and advocating for others to do the same.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Numerous men and women in my life that have taught me the value of respect, humility, servant attitude and the attitude to never give up. The list is long.

To know they are not experts in all policy issues and to seek those that are for knowledge so that legislation gets passed minimizing unintended consequences

Serve the people that elected them and not their own opinion

What legacy would you like to leave?

That I worked hard for the people of North Carolina and made it a better plan because I was there and there remain a great state for my grandkids and beyond.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Very first job was mowing lawns in the summer around my neighborhood as a 14-year-old used every dime I made to buy cows did this for 2 years.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Starting a small business from nothing and successfully growing it in spite of economic downturns and pandemics

Collaborative

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Managing growth and healthcare cost

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

No. It helps but no more than experience in life such as medical, academic, business, law, social issues healthcare and the like.

100%. No one in the legislature gets anything done by themselves. It takes collaboration in the house and senate to move forward

Not at this time

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Helping people in our state achieve their dreams. There are many and it never gets old.

I am a dad joke kind of person and there are many.

Yes

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Absolutely Necessary

What is the first bill you would introduce if elected?

I have introduced several. Most impactful bill to date is SB 409 related to aggregation of multiple financial crimes. Most significant bill I have been part of is protecting women and children act. Most significant pro life legislation in the history of North Carolina
