In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Kenny Cody is a native East Tennesseean, born and raised in the small town of Cosby, Tennessee. He is engaged to be married to the love of his life, Ms. Katilyn Webb of Parrottsville, Tennessee.

Kenny and his family have called House District 11 their home for the past 30 years, where he was raised with the Christian, conservative, mountain values that make our home the best place to live on earth.

He graduated from Cosby High School and Walters State Community College before attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to earn his bachelor's degree in English. He then pursued his Master's degree in Education at Tusculum University and his Educational Specialist Degree at Lincoln Memorial University.

Kenny returned home to serve his community as a public-school teacher, educating students on subjects such as U.S. government and civics, English, and speech and communication at both Cosby High School and Cosby Elementary School. He also coaches girls' basketball and previously coached football and boys' basketball.

His passion was always public service and voicing his views on Christian conservative values, which is why he ran and was elected Chairman of the Cocke County Republican Party at the age of 22 in 2019, a position he served in until 2026.

An active political columnist, Kenny has been published all over the nation for conservative publications, including Human Events (which he serves as opinion editor for).

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Strengthening Public Safety

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene's flooding in September 2024, our state government must ensure that public safety measures are fully supported. Funding for our emergency services, law enforcement, and civil servants has to be a priority in the 115th General Assembly. Our men and women who put their lives on the line for our protection deserve the full support of their members of the State Legislature, and I plan to provide it.Reducing Government Regulation

In our state, we must ensure that the money earned by hardworking East Tennesseeans and their families stays in their pockets. By cutting red tape and deregulating restraints on hunting, fishing, agriculture, education, and small businesses, and advocating for lower taxes, we can spur job growth across every sector of our District's economy and create the best opportunities possible for our District's next and current generations. Locals deserve an advocate at the state level so Nashville knows District 11's needs, and I will prioritize being that voice.Putting Our Families First

Now more than ever, the nuclear family is under attack. As your State Representative, I will ensure that indoctrination of our children by the progressive left is halted, prevent men from playing in women's sports, push for anti-abortion policy to protect the unborn, pushback against damaging DEI policies, and ensure Tennessee children have the best environment possible to thrive by advocating for legislation that is tough on crime.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Kenny is a staunch supporter of the freedoms and liberties that all Tennesseans share, and wants to ensure he represents the most conservative values that House District 11 stands for. Low taxes, less government interaction, and prioritizing our men and women in uniform are all imperatives that he plans to make the forefront of his time in Nashville.

Nashville needs some Smoky Mountain Conservatism, and Kenny is ready to bring some of that mountain grit to the halls of the Tennessee State Capitol.
