Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a regular Iowan running to represent regular Iowans. I am a paralegal, a foster/adoptive mom, and a union wife dedicated to making an Iowa that works for every Iowan.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Iowa’s education standing has drastically dropped due to the systematic attacks on our public schools through underfunding and lack of support for our educational professionals. I want to restore full funding to our schools to bring back Iowa’s golden standard of education, provide a solid foundation for every child, and provide a school system that works with parents to provide students access to necessary services.We have a water crisis in Iowa - our water is not safe to drink due primarily to our unregulated agriculture. We need to provide and fund the infrastructure to test and clean our water. We also need to work with our agriculture sector to encourage and incentivize more sustainable practices, and hold big ag accountable when they fail to do so - including making them pay for the cleanup rather than regular citizens. Everyone deserves clean and safe water.Iowa lags behind its neighbors in workers rights and wages - as a proud union wife I am dedicated to strengthening unions, collective bargaining, and workers rights. We need to raise the minimum wage, codify paid parental leave, and make sure our workers are safe at work!
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Education. Workers rights/union rights. Sustainability and conservation, especially with our agriculture sector.
